PUBLIC COMMENTS Persons speaJdng during Public Comments may address the Interview Panel on any subject matter within the Interview Panel's jurisdiction that is not listed as an item on the agenda. State law generally prohibits the Interview Panel from discussing or taking action on any issue not included on the agenda,but,if appropriate,the Interview Panel may schedule the topic for fitture discussion or refer the matter to staff.Comments are limited to three minutes. A Regular Meeting of the Board of Ethics (“BOE”) of the City of Chula Vista was called to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Room C-106, located at 276 Fourth Avenue, Building C, Chula Vista, California. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Vice Chair Victor Esquer (Board of Ethics member) and Rachel McDonald-Hernandez (Charter Review Commission) ABSENT: N/A STAFF PRESENT: Simon Silva, Deputy City Attorney (“DCA”) and Marisa Aguayo, Secretary PUBLIC COMMENT No comment by the public. ACTION ITEMS 1. Discussion and action on interview process, including determi ning manner of appearance for interview by applicants (i.e. in person, telephonic, letter, etc.), time allotted for each interview, and other similar processes for the conduct of interviews. DCA Silva presented options. Preferable to interview applicants in person but telephone interview is acceptable; interviews limited to 20 minutes each; interviews will be conducted on two separate dates, tentatively September 19th and September 24th. Passes, approved by consensus. 2. Discussion and action to review applicant applications/resumes/attendant documents, select applicants to interview, and selection of potential interview dates. DCA Silva presented. All applicants will be interviewed. Passes, approved by consensus. 3. Discussion and action on questions to be asked by the Interview Panel of the applicants during the interviews. DCA Silva presented suggested questionnaire. Commissioners changed the order of the questions and suggested deletions/additions to questionnaire. Silva to provide questionnaire with proposed changes. Passes, approved by consensus.
