MEETING OF THE HEALTHY CHULA VISTA ADVISORY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA Thursday,August 8, 2019 City Hall, Conference Room B111 4:30 p.m. 276 Fourth Avenue, Building C Chula Vista 91910 CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL: Commissioners Cruz, de Murguia, Jimenez, Martinez, Melgoza, Velo, Vice Chair Partida-Lopez and Chair Milburn CONSENT CALENDAR The Board/Commission will enact the Consent Calendar staff recommendations by one motion, without discussion, unless a Board/Commission Member, a member of the public, or staff requests that an item be removed for discussion. If you wish to speak on one of these items,please fill out a "Request to Speak"form and submit it to the Secretary prior to the meeting. Items pulled from the Consent Calendar will be discussed immediately following the Consent Calendar. 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM July 11, 2019 RECOMMENDED ACTION: Review Attachment 1 and approve minutes. PUBLIC COMMENTS Persons speaking during Public Comments may address the Board/Commission on any subject matter within the Board/Commission's jurisdiction that is not listed as an item on the agenda. State law generally prohibits the Board/Commission from discussing or taking action on any issue not included on the agenda, but, if appropriate, the Board/Commission may schedule the topic for future discussion or refer the matter to staff. Comments are limited to three minutes. ACTION ITEMS The Item(s) listed in this section of the agenda will be considered individually by the Board/Commission and are expected to elicit discussion and deliberation. If you wish to speak on any item,please fill out a "Request to Speak"form and submit it to the Secretary prior to the meeting. 2. UPAC NEW LEAF RECOVERY CENTER SOUTH Alicia Taylor, Peer Support Specialist and Case Manager at UPAC New Leaf Recovery Center South will provide an overview of a new facility in Chula Vista providing evidence-based and integrated outpatient treatment services for adults who suffer from serious mental health and co- occurring substance abuse conditions funded by the County of San Diego. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Commission hear the presentation and discuss. 3. ESTABLISHING AN ANNUAL HEALTHY CHULA VISTA AWARD Staff Kurz will provide an overview of public health awards given in the region and city award programs to open for discussion with the Commission the possibility of establishing an annual award that the Healthy Chula Vista Advisory Commission would administer. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Commission hear the presentation and discuss. OTHER BUSINESS 4. STAFF COMMENTS 5. CHAIR'S COMMENTS 6. COMMISSIONERS'/BOARD MEMBERS' COMMENTS ADJOURNMENT to a special joint meeting in September with the Commission on Aging, location and date TBD.
