HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2019-151RESOLUTION NO. 2019-151 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AMENDING THE COMPENSATION SCHEDULE TO REFLECT SALARY INCREASES EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2016, JULY 1, 2017, AND JULY 1, 2018 FOR THE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTIONS 302 AND 304(C) OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA CITY CHARTER WHEREAS, Section 304(c) of the City of Chula Vista City Charter indicates that the Mayor shall receive an annual salary equivalent to 66% of the salary of a Judge of the Superior Court of the State of California; and WHEREAS, City Charter Section 302 further sets the annual salary for Councilmembers at 40% of the salary of the Mayor; and WHEREAS, on June 19, 2019, the City received a letter from the Judicial Council of California dated August 28, 2018, that the salary for Judge of the Superior Court of the State of California was adjusted to $205,823.00 effective July 1, 2018; and WHEREAS, on July 2, 2019, the City received notification from the Judicial Council of California dated August 10, 2017, of the following salary adjustments given to Judge of the Superior Court; and Effective Date Annual Salary July 1, 2016 $191,914.00 July 1, 2017 $200,042.00 July 1, 2018 $205,823.00 WHEREAS, based on the formulas set forth in Sections 302 and 304(c) of the City Charter, the Mayor and Councilmembers salaries shall be as follows: Effective Date Mayor Annual Salary Councilmember Annual Salary July 1, 2016 $126,663.24 $50,665.30 July 1, 2017 $132,027.72 $52,811.09 July 1, 2018 $135,843.18 $54,337.27 DocuSign Envelope ID: 448DC17E-08A9-4235-B43B-79AF0BA8C014 Resolution No. 2019-151 Page No. 2 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, that it hereby does approve the revised Compensation Schedule effective July 1, 2016, July 1, 2017, and July 1, 2018; to reflect a salary increases for the Mayor and Councilmembers in accordance with Sections 302 and 304(c) of the City of Chula Vista City Charter, a copy of which is available at the City Clerk’s Office.
