SPECIAL MEETING OF THE HOUSING AUTHORITY
MEETING JOINTLY WITH THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA
CALL TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the City Council and a special meeting of the Housing Authority of the City of Chula
Vista were called to order at 5:02 p.m. in the Council Chambers, located in City Hall, 276 Fourth Avenue,
Chula Vista, California.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Deputy Mayor Diaz, Councilmember Galvez, Councilmember McCann, Councilmember
Padilla and Mayor Casillas Salas
Also Present: City Manager Halbert, Assistant City Manager Kachadoorian, City Attorney Googins, City
Clerk Bigelow, and Records Manager Turner
Mayor Casillas Salas announced, pursuant to AB 23, that she and each Councilmember would receive $50
for their attendance at that Housing Authority meeting, which was held simultaneously with the City Council
meeting.

Director of Planning;and Gabe Gutierrez, Chair of Circulate San Diego presented awards.

Victor Gonzalez, representing National City Chamber of Commerce, spoke in support of the item.

Diaz, to approve the City's endorsement of the 7th Annual International Mariachi
Festival at Bayside Park in Chula Vista.The motion carried by the following vote:

Mayor Casillas Salas congratulated newly elected Mayor of National City Alejandra Sotelo-Solis and stated

COUNCILMEMBERS' COMMENTS
Councilmember McCann spoke in support of including the district numbers of Councilmembers on the
agenda and he extended holiday greetings to the community.
Councilmember Diaz spoke regarding a recent Chula Vista Police Foundation giveaway event.
Deputy Mayor Padilla spoke regarding a recent community coffee event he hosted and stated he was
selected to serve as Vice Chair of the California Coastal Commission. He extended holiday greetings to
the community.
Councilmember Galvez expressed gratitude for the inauguration ceremony and welcoming reception. She
read a letter she had received thanking the City for its recent response to a flooding issue.
CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORTS
City Attorney Googins welcomed Councilmember Galvez. He announced an upcoming training on open
government and ethics that his office would deliver.
CLOSED SESSION
City Attorney Googins announced that Item 20 would be continued to a future date and that the Council
would convene in closed session to discuss Item 21, listed below.
Mayor Casillas Sa/as recessed the meeting at 7:12 p.m. The Council reconvened in Closed Session at
7:17 p.m., with all members present.
