HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-04-11 HCVAC Agenda City of Chula Vista Boards & Commissions Healthy Chula Vista Advisory Commission Notice is hereby given that the Healthy Chula Vista Advisory Commission of the City of Chula Vista has called and will convene a Special Meeting on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, located at 751 Medical Center Court*, Chula Vista, California to consider the item(s) on this agenda. MEETING OF THE HEALTHY CHULA VISTA ADVISORY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA Thursday, April 11, 2019 Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center* st 3:30 p.m. Nellie Barrington Conference Room (1 floor) 751 Medical Center Court Chula Vista 91911 *(Please arrive at 3:15 for reserved parking on the top floor of the parking structure directly st behind the hospital – see map at end of agenda. Take the elevator to the 1 floor where we will meet and start the tour. We will be touring a construction area therefore recommended attire is long pants and closed-toe shoes - no heels or ballet flats. Hard hats and glasses will be provided.) CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL: Commissioners Cruz, de Murguia, Jimenez, Martinez, Melgoza, Partida-Lopez, Velo, Vice Chair Milburn and Chair Quiroz CONSENT CALENDAR The Board/Commission will enact the Consent Calendar staff recommendations by one motion, without discussion, unless a Board/Commission Member, a member of the public, or staff requests that an item be removed for discussion. If you wish to speak on one of these items, please fill out a “Request to Speak” form and submit it to the Secretary prior to the meeting. Items pulled from the Consent Calendar will be discussed immediately following the Consent Calendar. 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM February 7, 2019 Staff recommendation: Review Attachment 1 and approve minutes. PUBLIC COMMENTS Persons speaking during Public Comments may address the Board/Commission on any subject matter within the Board/Commission’s jurisdiction that is not listed as an item on the agenda. State law generally prohibits the Board/Commission from discussing or taking action on any issue not included on the agenda, but, if appropriate, the Board/Commission may schedule the topic for future discussion or refer the matter to staff. Comments are limited to three minutes. ACTION ITEMS The Item(s) listed in this section of the agenda will be considered individually by the Board/Commission and are expected to elicit discussion and deliberation. If you wish to speak on any item, please fill out a “Request to Speak” form and submit it to the Secretary prior to the meeting. 2. SHARP CHULA VISTA TOUR & DISCUSSION Staff from Sharp will provide an overview of the new tower construction and services provided at the facility. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Commission hear the presentation and discuss. 3. HEALTHY & SUSTAINABLE MEETING POLICY Staff from Healthy Chula Vista and the Office of Sustainability will provide an overview of a draft policy regarding food procurement and use of sustainable serving ware to promote healthy and sustainable meetings on city facilities and city hosted in the community. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Commission provide an advisory recommendation to City Council on the adoption of a Healthy & Sustainable Meeting Policy. 4. HYDRATION STATIONS AT SWEETWATER HIGH SCHOOLS Sustainability Commissioner, Tina Mathias will provide a presentation on a proposal to develop a joint subcommittee between the Healthy Chula Vista Commission and Sustainability Commission to develop a project to provide Hydration Stations at Sweetwater Union High School District schools that will include coordination with the district, finding necessary funds to purchase and install Hydration Stations and project presentations to community stakeholders. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Commission discuss and designate two members to serve on a subcommittee as appropriate. OTHER BUSINESS 5. STAFF COMMENTS 6. CHAIR’S COMMENTS 7.
