MEETING OF THE HEALTHY CHULA VISTA ADVISORY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA Thursday, December 13, 2018 City Hall, Conference Room B111 3:30 p.m. 276 Fourth Avenue, Building C Chula Vista 91910 CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL: Commissioners Cruz, de Murguia, Jimenez, Martinez, Melgoza, Partida-Lopez, Velo, Vice Chair Milburn and Chair Quiroz CONSENT CALENDAR The Board/Commission will enact the Consent Calendar staff recommendations by one motion, without discussion, unless a Board/Commission Member, a member of the public, or staff requests that an item be removed for discussion. If you wish to speak on one of these items, please fill out a “Request to Speak” form and submit it to the Secretary prior to the meeting. Items pulled from the Consent Calendar will be discussed immediately following the Consent Calendar. 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM November 8, 2018 Staff recommendation: Review Attachment 1 and approve minutes. PUBLIC COMMENTS Persons speaking during Public Comments may address the Board/Commission on any subject matter within the Board/Commission’s jurisdiction that is not listed as an i tem on the agenda. State law generally prohibits the Board/Commission from discussing or taking action on any issue not included on the agenda, but, if appropriate, the Board/Commission may schedule the topic for future discussion or refer the matter to s taff. Comments are limited to three minutes. ACTION ITEMS The Item(s) listed in this section of the agenda will be considered individually by the Board/Commission and are expected to elicit discussion and deliberation. SWEETWATER BIKE PARK Staff from the County of San Diego and the San Diego Mountain Biking Association will provide a presentation on plans for a Bike Park in Bonita on Sweetwater Road and Proctor Valley Road. PREVENTING YOUTH DRUG & ALCOHOL ABUSE Staff from Institute for Public Strategies will provide an overview of a grant opportunity to deter drug and alcohol use in teens. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Commission hear the presentation and discuss. 4. COMMISSION ROLE IN ADVOCACY Staff from the City Attorney’s Office will provide an overview and answer questions related to commission roles and ability to advocate for various causes and/or legislation. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Commission hear the presentation and discuss. OTHER BUSINESS 5. STAFF COMMENTS 6. CHAIR’S COMMENTS 7. COMMISSIONERS’/BOARD MEMBERS’ COMMENTS ADJOURNMENT to a joint meeting with the Commission on Aging time and date to be determined, at Community Through Hope.
