COUNCIL OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA

KOLL CALL
Councilmen present: Mayor Hyde, Councilmen Scott, Cox, McCandliss
Councilmen absent: Councilman Gillow
Staff present: City Manager Cole, Assistant City Manager Asmus, City Attorney
Lindberg, Development Services Administrator Robens
Mayor Hyde informed those in attendance of the death today of Mr. Joe Broccoli,
Certified Public Accountant, City of Chula Vista.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETINGS
Mayor Hyde commented that regular board meetings of the Chamber of Commerce are held on
the first and third Thursdays of each month. He attends the first Thursday and the
Chamber has extended an invitation for other Council Members to attend the third
Thursday meetings.
PLANNING COMMISSION ITEM - LEWSADER
City Manager Cole told the Council that they have until Friday, October 3, to appeal
the Planning Commission's action to extend the variance (for one year) on the Lewsader
property.
City Attorney Lindberg advised that the Council may take action to appeal and that the
conditions imposed by the Council are the same, but a 4/5th's vote is required.
MS (Hyde/Scott) to refer this ite~ back to the Planning Commission on appeal.
Councilman Cox, speaking in oppostion to the motion, stated the Council does not have
the right to appeal the Commission's action.
Council discussion ensued and it was clarified that a 4/Sth's vote is required in order
to have time to obtain further information regarding this matter.
THE MOTION CARRIED unanimously by those present.
City Attorney Lindberg noted that the item will not be on next week's agenda, but will
be noticed for Council's consideration.
