NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED in order to help protect our residents, neighborhoods and schools, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby: 1. Encourage state and federal officials to be aggressive in enforcement of existing gun safety laws. 2. Support increased federal, state, and county resources for mental health and substance abuse treatment; and 3. Urge an integrated, school-community based, “public health” approach to gun violence that cultivates social and emotional well-being, identifies and intervenes assertively to help troubled students, and does not tolerate bullying, discrimination, or harassment. 4. The City Council directs that the City Clerk transmit this resolution to Chula Vista’s representatives in the California State Assembly and Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, senate and the County of San Diego.
