HomeMy WebLinkAboutWorkingGroup_Agenda9CCWG – Meeting Schedule 1 1/30/08 CITY OF CHULA VISTA Climate Change Working Group Public Works Corp Yard (Lunchroom)* January 30, 2007 3:00pm – 5:00pm MEETING AGENDA #9 MEETING WITH COUNCIL MEMBER CASTANEDA TO DISCUSS RECOMMENDATIONS AND TEXT  INTRODUCTIONS (15 min) Gives members an opportunity to introduce themselves and talk about their involvement in the CCWG/ measure selection process.  RECAP of MEASURE SELECTION PROCESS (10 min) Carla will give a brief presentation on how the CCWG process was structured and how the group arrived at its’ final recommendations.  DISCUSSION/ PRESENTATION OF INDIVIDUAL MEASURES (80 min or 8 min per measure, broken down as follows) 3 min: Working group members introduce measure and read measure text out-loud. 4 min: discussion and revision of measure, in dialogue with Council Member Castaneda 1 min: insert revisions into text/ make amendments to measure The order for the presentation of the measures: Measure # Measure Text CCWG Presenter 1 Adopt community-wide energy code requirements to help buildings exceed the energy-efficiency standards set by California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 24. Risa/ Carla (alternate) 2 Require City of Chula Vista-licensed businesses to participate in an energy audit of their physical premises every three to four years. Risa/ Carla (alternate) 3 Require large energy-using business to participate in an energy audit very three to four years. Specific guidelines would apply to the building and remodel of "data CCWG – Meeting Schedule 2 1/30/08 centers." 4 Require LEED/Architecture2030 or equivalent standards for commercial or industrial projects Leo 5 Require LEED/ Architecture2030, GreenPoint or equivalent standards for residential projects Leo 6 Require the City facilitate widespread installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on commercial, residential, and municipal facilities by developing and implementing a solar energy conversion program. Richard 7 Recommend that the City of Chula Vista facilitate smart growth around the H Street, E Street, and Palomar Street Trolley Stations. Richard 8 Recommend that the City of Chula Vista coordinate with Otay Water District, San Diego County Water Authority and the Sweetwater Authority on turf lawn conversions for commercial and residential properties. Erin 9 Incorporate AFV (electric, biodiesel, ethanol, hydrogen, CNG) into municipal fleet. Alan 10 Recommend that the City of Chula Vista work with fleets under City authority to influence to expand their use of alternative fuels and alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs).
