HomeMy WebLinkAboutWorkingGroup_Agenda8CCWG – Meeting Schedule 1 1/30/08 CITY OF CHULA VISTA Climate Change Working Group Public Works Corp Yard (Lunchroom)* January 30, 2007 3:00pm – 5:00pm MEETING AGENDA MEETING WITH COUNCIL MEMBER CASTANEDA TO DISCUSS RECOMMENDATIONS AND TEXT  INTRODUCTIONS (15 min) Gives members an opportunity to introduce themselves and talk about their involvement in the CCWG/ measure selection process.  RECAP MEASURE SELECTION PROCESS (10 min) Carla will give a brief presentation on how the CCWG process was structured and how the group came to select the action items it chose.  DISCUSSION/ PRESENTATION OF INDIVIDUAL MEASURES (80 min or 8 min per measure, broken down as follows) 3 min: Working group members introduce measure and read measure text out-loud. 4 min: discussion and revision of measure, in dialogue with Council Member Castaneda 1 min: insert revisions into text/ make amendments to measure The order for the presentation of the measures will be: Measure # Measure Title CCWG Presenter 14 Adopt strict community-wide energy code requirements 25 Require City of Chula Vista-licensed businesses to participate in an energy audit of their physical premises every three to four years. Carla 14.1 Require large energy-using business to participate in an energy audit very three years. Specific guidelines would apply to the building and remodel of "data centers." CCWG – Meeting Schedule 2 1/30/08 15 Require LEED/Architecture2030 or equivalent standards for commercial or industrial projects 16 Require LEED/ Architecture2030, GreenPoint or equivalent standards for residential projects 23 Require the City facilitate widespread installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on commercial, residential, and municipal facilities by developing and implementing a solar energy conversion program. 9 Recommend that the City of Chula Vista facilitate smart growth around the H Street, E Street, and Palomar Street Trolley Stations. 5 Incentivize lawn turf removal through in coordination available water district programs 6 Incorporate Alternative Fuels & Alternative Fuel Vehicles into municipal fleet 12 Recommend that the City of Chula Vista work with fleets under City authority to influence to expand their use of alternative fuels and alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs).  NEXT STEPS (15 min) Discuss need for a follow-up CCWG meeting, organization of the final report, format for presentation to council. *CV Public Works Corp Yard is located at: 1800 Maxwell Road Chula Vista, CA 91911 (East of 805 off Main St./Auto Park Dr.)
