HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Statement 1980/07/08 Item 12 - J r COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT f.r Item _47.� =k9- 12 Meeting Date-592:05k-90 7,L8/80 ITEM TITLE: Ordinance l q13 - Adding a new Chapter 5 .64 to the Municipal Code relating to Consumer Commodities Price Marking = First Reading SECOND READING A"\,D ADOPTION SUBMITTED BY: City Attorney (4/5ths Vote: Yes Nom) BACKGROUND: The City Council has requested that an ordinance be prepared requiring consumer price indexing as a result of the expiration of the state law on January 1, 1980 requiring such individual consumer pricing. The County of San Diego and many of the cities within the county have now adopted such an- ordinance . An ordinance has now been prepared substan- tially identical with those of the county and other cities . RECOMMENDATION: That the Council adopt the attached ordinance . BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A DISCUSSION: The preamble to the ordinance substantially outlines the reasons for its adoption. The City Attorney has forwarded copies of the ordinance to the Chamber of Commerce and the San Diego Grocers Association, Anne Hedenkamp and Bruce Murray, representing the senior citizens . Therefore, it is contemplated that there will be some input to the Council at their meeting of Tuesday, May 20, 1980 regarding the ordinance .
