ITEM TITLE: Ordinance /'-�00' Enlarging the responsibility of Human
Relations Commission to includeti an advisory function
to Chula Vista Transit SECOND READINp AND ADOPTION

In May 1979 , the Council suggested that transit in Chula Vista had
reached a point where it would be useful to have a Transit System
Advisory Board . In July 1979 , the Human Relations Commission (HRC)
accepted the charge of becoming the advisory board to Chula Vista
Transit (CVT) . It is therefore my
RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt ordinance enlarging responsibilities
of HRC to include an advisory capacity to CVT.
BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: The HRC voted 4-0 on July 11-, 1979 to
.accept the charge of becoming an advisory board to CVT. Furthermore ,
the HRC voted 5-0 on February 12, 1980 , to concur' with the wording of
the attached ordinance .
DISCUSSION:
The Human Relations Commission has set up a subcommittee to act as the
Chula Vista Transit Advisory Board . The subcommittee is composed of the
following members :
David Poret - HRC
Mary Taylor - ex HRC member
Marty Seid - Chamber of Commerce
Michael Maxey - Southwestern College
Gene Collett-: - HRC
Tomas Almarez - HRC
Merritt Hodson - Broadway Association/Taxpayers Association
The accompanying ordinance says two things. First , it formalizes
establishment of the Transit Advisory Board to the Human Relations
Commission and second , it defines in general terms the charge of the
subcommittee .
