HomeMy WebLinkAbout1951-08-20 PC MINS I � MINUTES OF A REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF TIE, CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Held Idonday, August 20, 1951 The Planning Commission met in the Council Chamber at City Hall, on the above date at 7:30 P.I.I., with the folloiraing Members present: Wulff, Drew, Stewart, Smith, Halferty. Absent: Members Ramage, Poulter. Also Present: City Attorney Boyer, Asst. City Engineer Wheeler. Approval of Minutes It was moved by Member Smith, seconded by Member Stewart, and carried, that the minutes of the meeting held August 6, 1951, be approved, copies having been mailed to the Members. Approval of Church Site - First Methodist Church, Third Avenue and J Street. It was moved by Member Drew, seconded by Member Stewart, and carried, that the request for approval of the above site be approved. Zone Variances Mr. 1.1. S. Barlow. 647 Third Avenue, requested a variance to cello;^r him to erect an advertising sign in front of his property•in an R-3 zone. It was moved by Member Halferty, seconded by Member Smith, that 'the request for variance be granted for the reasons stated in the application, for a sign 18" x 24", to be set at least two feet inside the sidewalk on the applicant's property. The motion was carried by the fol- lowing vote, to wit: AYES: Members Stewart, Smith, Halferty, 17ulff. NOES: Member Drew. ABSENT: Members Ramage, Poulter. Mrs. Rosemary Wintrow, 606 Claire Avenue:, requested a variance to convert her garage into a beauty shop in an R-1 zone. It was moved by Member Smith, seconded by Member Halferty, that the variance be granted for the reasons stated in the application, for one year, ending December 31, 1952, and with the provision that there be no ad- vertising signs and that the window facing on Claire Avenue, and the entire front, be residential in character. The motion was carried by the following vote, to—at: AYES: Members Stewart, Smith, Halferty, Wulff. NOES: member Drew. ABSENT: Members Ramage, Poulter. Tree Removal Mr. TFrank Parker, 67 J Street, requested the removal of a paha tree from the park- way in front of his property. It was moved by Member Halferty, seconded by Member Smith, and carried, that the tree be removed at the City's expense, with no replacement necessary. . Zone Variance Mrs. Charles Heaney, 310 G Street, requested a variance for a 10 foot rear yard -2- instead of the required 25 feet, to erect multiple dwellings according to the plot plan submitted to the Commission, in an Z-1 zone. It was moved by Member Stewart, seconded by member Drew, and carried, that the variance be granted for the reasons stated in the application. Employment of City Planner it 1was moved by T-Jember Halferty, seconded by Member Smith, and carried, that the employment by the City Council of 14r. Fred Wagner as City Planner be approved.
