HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-06-19 PC MINS MINUTES OF A REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Held Monday - June 19, 1950 The Planning Commission met on the above date at 7:30 P. M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall with Chairman Eckhart presiding. Present: Members Eckhart, Halferty, Poulter, Ramage. City Attorney oyer and Assistant City Engineer Wheeler. Absent: Members Wulff, Drew, Logan. It was moved by Member Poulter, seconded by Member Halferty, and carried' that the minutes of the meeting held June 5th be approved as mailed. Zone Variances Dr. C. Brewer Casey - 265 F Street. Dr. Casey requested a use variance allowing construction and use of a dental clinic structure with no living quarters included, and to permit the eaves of the. proposed structure to project into the required side and front yard of a R-3 zone to within 2 feet of the lot line. It was moved by Member Halferty, seconded by Member Ramage, and carried, that the variance be granted with the provision that the building conforms with the requirements of the Building Code pertaining. to windows and fire resistive walls in a business zone. Kenneth D. Hawkins - 603 Carla Avenue. Mr. Haw ns had previously appeared before the Commission to request permis- sion to construct a 52" fence on the property line instead of the required set- back and height. After consideration and discussion, it was moved by Member Eckhart, seconded by Member Halferty, and carried, that Mr. Hawkins be permitted to build a solid or semi-solid fence x.21 high, 721 from the side property line, the fence to be removed in two years. Malcolm E. Trutna - 146 King Street. Mr. Trutna appeared before the Commission for final action on the variance applied for at June 5th meeting. It was moved by Member Ramage, seconded by Member Poulter, and carried, that Mr. Trutna be granted a variance to build 10, from the front property line and 221 from the rear property line according to the plot plan attached to the zone variance application. Robert C. Cole - 202 Church Avenue. Mr. Cole requested a variance to build a commercial building on the alley line at the rear of his property, and to observe a 721 set-back from "E" Street, instead of the required 101. The matter was referred to the Fire Chief for a report, and to be continued at the next Planning Commission meeting. John Cooley - 441 Elm Street. Mr. Cooley requested a variance to construct a garage attached to a dwelling within 18" from the lot line rather than the required 5'. It was moved by Member Poulter, seconded by Member Ramage, and carried, that the variance be granted pro- vided that the abutting lots be so divided so that a 3' side yard is observed be- tween Lots 7 and 8. Resolution No. 9 - Granting zone varidnce to Raymond Engler. The ecretary read Resolution No. 9 in full., It was moved by Member Ramage, seconded by Member Halferty, and carried, that the resolution be approved. A copy was served on Mr. Engler who was present. Street Opening - Petition for Street opening North of Vista Del Sol Subdivision. Property owners to .the North of the Vista Del Sol Subdivision presented a sketch of the proposed street North of the Subdivision which they offer to dedi- cate and improve. After discussion, the matter was tabled until after the Chula Vista Hills Subdivision map has been approved. Approval of Trailer Park Site. Mr. Leon M. Nelson, agent for Mr. John VanYrimpen, presented a proposed plan and requested approval of the Commission for a trailer park site on Lot 24, 4 sec- tion 117, excepting the Westerly 125 feet of the Northerly 50 feet and excepting the westerly 270 feet of the Southerly 125 feet. After discussion, the Commission advised Mr. Nelson that they would continue the matter; pending application for a zone variance, and the presentation of more detailed plans. Tree Removal. The Secretary read requests for tree removal from .the following; ti Glenn H. Miller - 507 H Street. Roy Cresswell - 398 National Avenue. Action was tabled until a fuller report was received from the Park Superin- tendent. Adjournment.
