PLANNING 0014MISSION, HELD IviONDAY. FEBRUARY 2, .1948.
The Commission met in regular session on the above date at- 7.30 PaMa.,
in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, with Chairman Davis presiding.
Members present: Davis, Welton, Guest, Cloyed, Fisher. Absent:
kember Irey.
Minutes of adjourned regular meeting held January 12, 1918, having been
prepared and mailed to each member of the Commission,and to each member of the
Council Frere read,the minutes by City Clerk Bryant at their regular meeting
held January 13, 1948, upon motion by Member Guest, seconded by Member Welton,
and carried, were approved as prepared and mailed.
SITE, FOR SCHOOL PLANT: Upon motion by Member Uloyed, seconded by Member Guest,
and carried, approval of purchase by the Chula Vista School District of that
certain property described-as Lots 2, 7 and 10 in Quartersection 122, was
granted. This is for the purpose of building a School Plant.
REMOVAL OF TRLES: Upon motion by Member Cloyed, seconded by Member Fisher,
and carried, .per-mission was granted Hr.Black of theiDenrich Press, to remove
a dead pepper tree, two old date palms and another which is crowding adjacent
eucalyptus trees, from in front of his property at 151-4th Avenue.
Park Superintendent Chester Norman recommended that these be taken out
without replacement.
ZONE VARIANCES: Published at least one week previous to meeting.
(a) Upon motion by Member Fisher, seconded by Member Welton, and carried,
request for Zone Variance made .by Theodore R. and Ardath F.Gray, for the
purpose of building a four unit apartment at approximately 581 Parkway,
being the Easterly 150 feet of the festerly 370 feet of Lot 7, in Block 149,
was granted, subject to the understanding that sufficient area be left in
the event that streets are extended through Roberta Park or elsewhere,
and subject to the approval of the City,'Engineert
(b) Upon motion by Member Davis, seconded by Member Guest, and carried,
Zone Variance request made by Charles L.Gunthorpe, for the purpose of operating
a Mimeograph and printing business at his residence 20 Second Avenue, being
Lot 4-B, in Quartersection 136, in the City of Chula Vista, was granted for
a period of one year, at which time Mr.Gunthorpe will apply either for a renewal
or state he has secured another location for the above purposes.
(c) Upon motion by Member Fisher, seconded by Member Davis, and carried,
Zone variance request made by Mr. and IN1rs.. George Punton for the purpose of
building additional store room to existing laundry building located at 615
"H" Street, was granted,, _
(d) Upon motsibn by Member Guest, seconded by Member Welton, and carried,
the renewal for Zone Variance request by Charles T.Brindell, was granted
for one year, for the purpose of continuing his sm ,11 operation of radio
repairs at his residence 556 Glover Street.,

DEDICATION OF STREET: Taira J.D.Light and Mr.H.L.Williams appeared
before the Commission with the request that the Commission accept the
dedication of a stredt, being the westerly 30 feet of Lot 26, in
Quartersection 13$. Upon motion by Member Davis, seconded by Member
Welton and carried, recommendation was made that the City Council accept
this dedication, subject to all improvements, such as curb and gutter,
grade and sidewalks,at their own expense, and that sidewalks are separate
and not the combination .type; and the surfacing of the street with road
mix.
DEDICATION OF STREET: Mr.George W.Scott appeared before the Commission
with the request that they accept the dedication-of a street, being the
Southerly 60 feet of northerly 195.68 feet of westerly 130 feet of
Easterly 480 feet of Lot 12 in Quartersection 136. Upon motion by
Member Welton' seconded by Member Fisher, and carried, it was recommended
that Council accept this dedication, subject to improvements to match
existing improvements on that street, at his own expense,
T MTATITE MAP: Mr.Algert, city engineer, representing Mr.Barnes,
presented a tentative map to the Commission for their recommendation to
Council, which�&e Easterly half of Lots 9 and 16, in Quartersection 123;
being Elm Avenue from "H'i Street 660 feet north. Upon motion by
Member Fisher, seconded by Member Cloyed and carried, it was recommended
that Council approve this tentative map.
