The Commission met in regular session on the above date at 7.30 P.P ., in the Council Chamberx of the City Hall, with Chairman Davis presiding. Members present: Davis, Guest, Irey, Cloyed, Fisher. Absent: Member Welton. Plinutesrof regular meeting held February 2, 1918, having been .prepared and mailed to each member of the Commission, and to each member of the Council, upon motion by Plember Guest, seconded by Member Fisher, and carried, were approved as prepared and mailed. RI!MOVAL OF TREES: (1) Upon motion by Mieniber Cloyed, seconded by Plember Irey, and carried, the-request for removal of a Blue Gum tree made by Mr. Claud R®Conklin of 877 Country Club Drive, was granted, subject to the usual requirements of a $5.00 deposit to be made in the City Clerk's office, to be refunded as soon as replace- ment of Cocos Plumosa palm is done. Chester Norman, Park Superintendent, recommended the above,: (2) Upon motion by Plember Guest, seconded by Plember Cloyed, which carried, the request for removal of two evergreen trees made by.P1r. .Dale T.Farlow of 69 Smith Street, was granted. 14r.Chester Norman, Park Superintendent, having recommended the above removal, also recommended that the city take out these trees, but that Mr.Farlow deposit with the city clerk 6 40 per tree, to be refunded when replacements are made with trees acceptable to the Commission, namely cocos plumosa. (3) The secretary read a letter to the Commission signed by James H:Browvm, and Charles E.BroUm;, Insurance Agents, in which they requested permission to remove two trees from. the parking in front of property at 333 "E" Street, which they have leased for the purpose of operating Insurance, heal Estate, and other associated offices. Upon motion by Member Irey, seconded by Plember .Fisher, and carried, permission was granted, provided they remove these trees at their own expense. LOBE. VARIANCES: Notice Published at least one week previous to meeting. (l) Upon motion by Member Davis, seconded by Plember Cloyed, Zone Variance request made by Clarence L;c and Florence W..Close, for the purpose of building multiple dwellings at 196 Madrona Street, described as Lot 1, Block 3, Gulick Tract, was granted. Carried, (2) Upon motion by Plember Davis, seconded by Plember Irey, and carried, the - Lone Variance request made by Pirs.Edith Collins, for the purpose of operating a Beauty Parlor at her residence 160-5th Avenue, was granted for a period of six (6) month: only, t.rith no renewal, from Plarch 1., - 1948 to October 1, 1948. This six months period being granted so that Mrs.Collins could adjust her business matters according to the above. i (3) Upon motion by .Member Fisher, seconded by Member Guest, which carried, Zone Variance request, which is a renewal of Zone Variancd request granted one year ago, was granted to continue for one more year,Beauty Parlor operated by Mrs.11-dela Butcher.at her residence 583 "F" Street. (4) Upon motion by Member Cloyed, seconded by Member Irey, which carried, Zone Variance request made by Mrs.Dollie DpDavis, for the. purpose of operating a Board House for men at ,her residence 194 "G" Street, being Lot 1, Quartersection 123, was granted for a period of one year. This is a renewal of Zone Variance request granted one year ago. After some disnussion relative to the above Zone Variances, it was moved by Member Davis, seconded by Member Irey, and carried, that necessary steps be taken to zone the North and South sides of "E" Street, between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue, for Commercial purposes.
