HomeMy WebLinkAbout1948-09-07 PC MINS 7 The regular meeting of the Planning Commission was held on the 7th day of September, 1948 at 7:30P.1J. , at the City Hall. Tllembers Fisher, Davis, Cloyed, Plelton, Irey and Guest, and ex-officio members, Foster and Boyer were present. In the absence of Secretary Beatrice Peek, Chairman Davis appointed Albert C. Boyer to act as secretary It was moved by ltliember Fisher, seconded by member Cloyed, and carried, that the minutes of the August meeting be approved as mailed to the members by the secretary. It was moved, seconded, and duly carried, that the applic- ation of 1v1rs. C. E. Walther for the removal of two trees at ,amu 338 H Street, be approved subject to the deposit for replacement required by the Ordinance of the City of Chula Vista. It was moved, seconded, ane duly carried, that the applic- ation of Mrs. Lowell James for the removal of two trees at 322 Del Mar Avenue , be approved subject to the deposit for replace- ment .required by the Ordinance of the City of Chula Vista. ZONE VARIANCE--CHARLES C. 1UILSON; The application of Charles C. Wilson for a zone variance to operate a trucking business on Lot 17, Block 147 of Chula Vista, which was continued from the last meeting, was on motion by TJember Davis, seconded by member Fisher, recommended to the' City Council for approval. LZr. De Witt A. Higgs, attorney at law, represented Mr. Wilson at the hearing for' this variance. Messrs. Odom, Hodson, Clary and Sperry .from the audience opposed therantin 'of the variance.. IL-. Fred g g Stafford spoke in favor of granting the variance. TECTJTASEH P=, TENTATIVE T&T- ; Engineer Freeland presented a tentative map of the above subdivision. It was moved by member Cloyed, seconded by member Irey,4that the tentative map of Tecumseh Park be approved, 1. ;�- being understood that an easement shown on the map as Lot '°5t; would be dedicated as a street so -----rte—R� ,1 ^ , division ordinance, except that sidewalks on the interior streets of the subdivision be 4 foot in width and be combination curb and gutter construction. The Commission also recommended that the subdivider be allowed to plant Japanese Elms in the parkways of the exterior streets of the subdivision. TECU111SEH PARK, FINAL MAP AND IMPIROVEiiENT PLAPIS: Engineer Freeland -then presented the final map of the above named subdivis- ions- for ubdivis-ions for approval. After favorable recommendation by the City Engineer, it was moved by member Guest, seconded by member 7elton , and carried, that the said final map and improvement plans be recommended to the Council for approval, subject to the same con- ditions contained in the Commission' s approval of the tentative map. .; M-LRDEN ACRES, TENTATIVE ldAP; A tentative map for the above subdivision was presented and final dztermination of its approval was continued by the Commission after further hearings to be held at the next meeting. ZONE VARIANCE--CHUL % VISTA SEVENTH DAA ADVENTIST CIRMI CH; This application for a zone variance, continued from the August meeting, was on motion of member Davis, seconded by member Cloyed, and carried, denied without prejudice to the refiling of the same application with the Commission with signatures of all property owners within 500 feet of the proposed variance and without the necessity of republication of notice. fir. Welton did -not vote. ZONE VARIANCE--J. yd. E1lff_NGER; This application for a zone variance to operate a radio service store at 496 D Street was r granted for the period of one year and to end September 1,1949, this being a renewal of the temporary variance. ZONE VARIANCE--JOITUT RERNHA-RD; It was moved by member Dgvis, seconded by member Guest and carried that the petition for a zone variance to operate a food market at 388 K Street, be denied. The chairman read a letter from J. M. 11dDonald, Superintendent of 74L low 'the minutes of the Commission. ZONE VARIANCE--RAYMOND 0. iJUNES; It was moved by 1,11ember Irey, seconded by member Cloyed, and carried, that a zone variance for the purpose of constructing a small cottage according to the plot plan attached to the application at 203 G Street be approved. ZONE VARIANCE--L.H. DO INS & WILLIAM RATFUIAN; This applic- ation for a zone variance to operate a boarding house at 320 Second Avenue was voluntarily withdrawn by the applicants. ZONE VARIANCE-191S. COLLINS; 11rs. Collins requested the in- formal opinion of the Commission as to its attitude towards an extension of her existing temporary zone variance to operate a beauty shop on the 5th Avenue, near Flower Street in her home. The Commission expressed itself as approving the temporary variance 4 for an additional period of 'six months. This action by the comm- ission did not constitute the formal approval of a variance. ZONE VARIANCE--M. 'WILLIAM SMITH; h1r. Smith requested the informal opinion of the Commission as to its attitude toward the granting of a zone variance at 150 First Avenue for the use of the existing building as a meeting hall for the Eagles dodge. The Commission expressed itself as opposed to the granting of such a variance. There being no further business to come before the Commission the meeting was adjourned until September 20th, at 7:30 P.M. ~� Acting Secretary
