PLANNING COMMISSION, :HELD TIONDAY, JULY- 7, 19LL7
The Commission met in regular session on:tbe above date, at 7.30 P.M..,
in the Council Chambers of the City Hall., with chairman pro-tem Welton
presiding. Members Present. Welton, Fisher, Guest, Irey. Absent:
Chairman Davisil on account of sickness.
Minutes of the regular meeting held June 2nd, 19+7, having been prepared
and mailed to each member of the Commission, and to each member of the Council,
upon motion by Member Fisher, seconded by Member Guest, which carried, were
approved as corrected in the last line of the last paragraph, which, when -
added, read as follows "The Planning Commission recommends Councilfs acceptance
of said dedication, •tsubject to provision in Subdivision Ordinance .No.377t •"
ZONE VARIANCES: (Published at least one week previous to meeting).
(1) Upon motion by Member Irey, seconded by Member Fisher, which carried, the
the request of Mr. Frank Shellenberger for a renewal of Zone Variance granted
him a year ago for the purpose of operating a sign shop in tkie rear of his
property at 291 Alvarado Street, was granted.
(2) Upon motion by Member Irey, seconded by Member Guest, which carried,
the request for Zone Variance made by Dr. Ralph R.Giddings, for the purpose of
erecting a building for the operation of a medical clinic on Landis Street
"a between Davidson Street and "E" Street, on the west side, was granted.
(3) Upon motion by Member Irey, seconded by Member Guest, which carried,
the Zone Variance request of Mr. A.L.Reneau, Jr., as it relates to Lots, 7,8.,
9 and 10 in Block "F" of Mohnikets Subdivision, for the operation and extending
the present business zone on Garrett Avenue north, in the operation of his
proposed Chevrolet Sales & Service Garage, was granted. The secretary was
directed to write a letter to Mr.Reneau, stating that the proposed widening
of Garrett Avenue on his part to accommodate school buses without obstruction
was especially acceptable to the Commission. "
(4) Mr. H.E.Lange appeared relative to his Zone Variance request for the
purpose of. building multiple dwellings on his .property at 386 D Street, being
Lot 17-E, Quartersection 136. After some discussion, it was suggested that
this request be continued for one month, which U%uuld give more time for
adjoining neighbors to voice their attitude. The secretary was asked to
write a. letter to interested property owners., stating the request of Mr�Lange,
and notifying them that .this matter would be taken up by the Commission at
their next, regular meeting to be held Monday, August 4 19+7
REMOVAL OF TREES: The secretary read a letter written by Mr. Clyde W.Stewart
of 244 ElderAvenue, irk which he requested the removal of two acacia trees from
in front of his property. Upon recommendation of Park Superintendent Chester
Norman, it was moved by Member Fisher., seconded by Member !rev, and carried,
that the city remove these trees themselves; for the reason that they were
considered a great hazard, and would be especially beneficial in their removal.
The secretary was directed to notify Mr.Stewart to this effect, with .the provision
} he replace same with Palms, placing the usual deposit of $5:00 per tree, until
replaced, with the city clerk.
.`.� RECORD OF SURVEY: Mr.Henry Algert, city engineer, -representing Mrs,
itted a proposed record of survey to the co?ma.ssion members

for their approval, covering the Northeast Quarter of Quartersection 165,
being the west side of National Avenue between "Ii" and "Ll' Streets.
Upon motion by Member Fisher, seconded by Member Guest and carried, the
Record of Survey was approved for recommendation to City Council acceptance,
subject to the usual findings of the legal and engineering department' and
subject to reservations of easement for street purposes 60 foot wide at the
center of the block.
