HELD MONDAY, OCTOBER 79, 1946
The Commission met in regular session on the above date , at 7.30
o'clock P.M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, with Chairman
Johnson presiding. Members present: Johnson, Davis, Starkey, Irey.
Absent: Members Cotton and Griffin. Also present were Attorney
DeWitt Higgs, Asst. Attorney Boyer and City Engineer Algert, and
Building Inspector, Frank Willits.
There being no quorum at previously called meeting-of September 3,
1946, minutes of that called meeting were not mailed.
ZONE VARIANCES: (Published at least one vieek previous to meeting) .
(1) Upon motion by Member Irey, seconded by Member Starkey, which
carried, lone.;Valiance, :C o914 e-single family zone to multiple zone relating
to Lots 22 and 23, Block 2,VFaster's Addition, 745 Church Street, was
granted upon application of Harriet Holt.
(2) Upon motion by Member Davis, seconded by Member Starkey, which
carried, permission was granted to National Lumber Company at 341 Madrona
Street, being Lots 11, 12-and 13 Block 5, of San Diego Land & ToTnn Company,
to operate warehouse and lumber cutting yard.
APPLICATION FOR TRAILER COURT: Mr. Roy W arren appeared before `the
Commission at which time he presented a tentative drawing of a Trailer
Motel. Mr.Warren requested permission to operate a Trailer Court at 653
Orange Avenue, being Lot 2, (Except 2-A) in Quartersection 161.
Member Davis offered the following Resolution, whichwas seconded by
Member Starkey, and carried:-
BE IT RESOLVED THAT, Roy Warren be hereby granted permission to use
his property at 653 Orange Avenue, Chula Vista, California, more
particularly described as Lot 2, (Except 2-A) of Quartersection 161,
in the City of Chula Vista, County of San Diego,, State of California,
for the purpose of construction and operating a Trailer Motel,
SUBJECT to the following conditions:-
(1) Filing pf certificates required by Ordinance No.342 - from the
Director of Public Health.
(2) Obtaining necessary building permit in accordance with Building
Coffe of the City of Chula Vista, and of the lawd of the State of
California.
Request was also made by Mr,Warren that he be allowed to remove certain
cottonwood trees, should it be found necessary, for the purpose of driveway
entrance. This request was granted unanimously.
DECKER SUBDIVISION N0.2 FINAL MAP AND IBIPR07EMM PLAN3:
Upon motion by Member Starkey, seconded by Member Irey, which carried,
approval was given of the Final Map and Improvement Plans relating to
Uecker Subdivision N6.2, subject to the filing of bond or other security
for installation of improvementsq as recommended by City Engineer Algert.
HM40SA YLOOR: Second Avenue and "Elf Street. ACCEPTANCE OF SEWER PUMP:
Upon motion by Member Davis, seconded by Member Starkey, which carried,
recommendation was given to accept Sewer Pump at Hexxnosa: or, in lieu of
the original sewer plan.
REMOVAL OF-'TREESe,.Upon motion by Member Irey, seconded by Member
Starkey, which carried, the request of. Mr. M.C.Blanchard, for the removal
of four (4) black acacia trees at, 268 "I" Street; was denied, upon the
recommendation of Street Superintendent, whfl_,-btated-the trees were not dead.
Upon motion by Member Davis, seconded by Member Starkey, which carried,
the request of Zannah Briggs of 236 'IF,? Street, for the removal of two (2)
tre_es:.from in front of her home, was denied, upon recommendation of Mr.Love.
Upon motion of Member Davis, seconded by Member Starkey, which carried,
the request of Clarence L.Madden, for the removal of eucalyptus trees
from his property on the north side of 11.1" Street, 529 T Street, was granted,
upon recommendation of Mr.Love, Street Superintendent. The clerk was
instructed to inform Mr.Madden of.this decision of the Commission, subject
to the replacing of palms.
REQUEST FOR PAPER RACKS .AND COIN BUM AT BUS STOPS: Upon motion
by Member Irey, seconded by Member Starkey, which carried, the request
for the placing .of paper racks and coin boxes at the following bus stops,
by Mr. Harold Lindemood, San Diego Union Aunt, was granted:-
Third and 1fK" Street - Eastside bus Stop
Third and "I" Street
Third and "Htf Street It if it
Third and Center Street - West bus stop
Fourth and "Elf Street - North Side bus stop
REMOVAL OF TREES: Upon motion of Member Davis, seconded by Member
Irey, which carried, the request by petition of six property owners
at Bay Manor Tract, for the removal of Eucalyptus trees from in f rant of
their various properties, was granted.
AD OURIZIENT: Upon motion by Member Tohnson, seconded by Number Starkey,
