The Commission met in regular session on the above date, at 7.30 o'clock P.M.,.in the Council Chambers of the City Ball, with Chairman Johnson presiding_. Present: - Members Tohnson, :Davis 0 Cotton,_ Starkey, Absent: ­ Member Griffin. Ex-Officio Riceland, City Manager Ray, and City Attorney Higgs were present. Minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held January 21, 1946, having been prepared and mailed to each member of the Commission, were approved as prepared and mailed* DECKER SUBDIVISION: Upon motion by Member Johnson, seconded by Member Starkey,. andNcarried., -it was moved that recommendation be made to the Council to accept the aiap as presented, with the provision that IArXecker submit bonds at the rate of $3.00 per running foot of all curb and sidewalk, and the rate of 15 cents per square foot for all areas to be paved* SMVE (EAGLE INVESTMENT..COMPANY) .TENTATIVE PLANS.FOR.SUBDIVISION: The clerk presented to the Commission a tentative plan submitted by Mr.Shreve for a proposed subdivision. After some discussion the matter was tabled until a more satisfactory plan could be offered and presented to the Commssion. STEELS SUBDIVISION = TO BE-ISNOWN.AS "ROBERTA PARK": • Upon motion by Member Johns on, -seconded by.Member Davis,_and,,carried,_it was-moved that recommendation be made to the city council tg accept the Subdivision map as presented by Claude, V.Brown, representing Mr.Steele, providing...that Mr.Steele submit bonds at the rate of $3.00 per running foot of all curb and sid5walk, and'the rate of 15 cents per square foot for all areas to be paved. REQUWT FOR REMOVAL OF -TREE: The clerk read a-letter from Mrs.Mayme K. Dines of the "E" Street-Grocery located.at 312 "E" Street, in the City of Chula Vista, requesting the removal of a large pepper tree from in front of her store. After some discussion the matter was tabled until the next meeting of the Commission, and referred to City Manager Ray for further inv5stigation. ZONE VARIANCE - EROMYDAS: Upon motion by Member Cotton, seconded by Member,Starkey, and. carried, _the application for Zone Variance sigaed by Emanuel and Pelagia Kromydas, having been published one week previous to this meeting in the Chula- Vista Star, for the purpose of manufacturing cabinets for sound and electronic equipment in his domestic garage, at 649 Chula Vista Avenue, - was given a temporary permit for six months, with the provision that should complaints arise from the neighbors, this temporary permit would be withdrawn. ZONE VARIANCE .. EESTER: The clerk read the Notice for Zone Variance which had been published one veek previous to this meeting in the Chula Vista Star, signed by Iloyd -W.& Mabel MJ�ester, requesting Zone Variance for the purpose pf operating a small shop in. the rear of their property at 555 Glover Street in the manufacture of art novelties of clay and plaster. The application was tabled and referred to City Manager Ray for investigation. PETITION OF PROTEST TO ZONING EAST SIDE OF LANDIS FOR BUSING' S: The clerk. read a tition signed _by. several property_omners, protesting_against any contemplated measure to zone the East side of Landis Street between "E" and "F" Streets, for business property. The letter was ordered filed with_.other Zone Map hearing material. ZONE VARIOCL - .LINMICUM -Notice for, Zone Variance signed by -inna L. Linthieum.having_been.published one week previous to this meeting in the Chula. Vista-Star, for the purpose of converting barn into business at 699 "E" Street, it was moved by Member Cotton, seconded by Ymber Davis, and,earried, that the above Zone. Veriance be granted; _ PETITION FCR ACQJ RIM ADDITIONAL LAND FOR A=: The clerk read a petition signed .by property owners..located on_the_North side of Cypress Street between Second and First Avenues, addressed to the City Council, which in tura was referred„back to the Planning Commission. This is a petition requesting that the City acquire an additional 7-j feet from the property owner, for the widening of the alley adjacent to the above. The matter was referred to City Manager Ray for investigation and re- commendation. CITY PARK PROPERTY: Mr.Dwight Gove being preseat, read to the Commission a.motion.whieh appeared in the minutes of the Recreation Commission meeting held January 23, 1946, which read as follows:- , "The Recreation Commission recommend that the Planning Commission give consideration to the proposal that the city park property located on "C” Street between 4th and 5th Avenues., be set aside as a Memorial Park for recreational purposes." Upon motion by Member Davis, seconded by Member Cotton, and carried, it was moved that recommendation be made to the council to accept the city park specifically as a Memorial Park. CIVIC CENTER SKETCIiES: Mr. E.Charles Parke, architect, presented some tentative.sketches.,for proposed__Civic Center Buildings. Upon motion by Member Tohnson, seconded by Member Starkey, and carried, it was moved that recommendation be made to the City Council to use these sketches in helping to procure state funds. .ADT.OUFUNT: Upon motion by Member 'Tohnson, seconded by Member Starkey, which tied, theTg adjourned sine die.
