HomeMy WebLinkAbout1945-03-05 PC MINS MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA, HELD 1,7ARCH 51, 1945 The Commission met in regular session on the above date, at 7.30 P.M.-, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, with Chairman Johnson presiding. Present: Members Johnson, Griffin, Smith, Parke, Chase, Starkey; Ex-Officio Bryant, and City Attorney Atherton. Absent: Ex-Officio Riesland. Minutes of the regular meeting held February 5, and of the minutes of an adjourned regular meeting held February 49.j, 'when read by the clerk, were approved as read, with one exception, viz: that the heading "Master Plans" should read "Sewer Flans". ZONE VARIANCE: Mr. M.H.Parrish appeared before the Commission, requesting zone variance at 387 H Street , for the purpose of growing and selling nursery stock from his Lathe House, Mr.Parrish stating that the majority of his sales would take place on the outside. Upon motion by Member Griffing seconded by Member Parke,which carriei recdm endation was, made that the Council grant Mr.Parrish's request on a modified basis as suggested by Mr.Ray; Planning Director, in which Mr.Parrish agrees to remove all structure, at his own expense, within reasonable notiee, when it is declared a nuisance to the neighborhood. TENTATIVE PLANS FOR AIR PORT: Vbmber Parke presented a tentative plan showing an outline of a proposed air port for the South Bay District, as prepared by the San Diego nntng-Commission. Upon motion by Member Griffin, seconded by ber Chase, which carried, tentative approval was given to the above plan, working in conjunction with the studies now being conducted to that end. SUB-COMMITTEES FOR GROUP OF PLANS: Member Chase offered as his proposed list of sub-c6mmnittees John McCausland - Health and Hospital; Ted Starke - Fire-Prevention; Richard Higgs - Crime; Mr.Otis - Public Service. Member Parke had prepared a list of nine (9) proposed names, with C.V.Brown as sub-committee chairman, who would work on the three combined plans , namely, Industrial, Public Buildings and Community design. It was verbally suggested that Member Starkey work with the local Chamber of Commerce secretary on sub-committees for "Commercial Facilities". Other members were preparing their lists as time would permit. TENTATIVE MAP FOR PROPOSED SUBDIVISION: Mr.L.B.Barne s appeared before the Commission with tentative map showing his proposed plans fcr subdividing his property, described as follows: Lots 1 to 12 inclusive, in Block 9, of the'Chula Vista, Villa Tract No.3 - into I . 60+ x 1331 lots. It'was unanimously agreed that Mr.Barnes prepare blue prints and present to the Commission for further discussion. Mr. Robert O.Sprague , Principal of Southxest Junior �r u High School, and Mrs.Edna Boaz, Southwest Junior Hig Coordinator of Planning, viere,invited to sit in with the Commission in' order to help them coordinate their proposed future plans with that of the City of Chula Vista.
