HomeMy WebLinkAbout1945-04-02 PC MINS MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF ME PLPI-WING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA, HEIR APRIL 2, 1945 The Commission met in regular session on the above date, at 7.30 P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, with Chairman Johnson presiding. Present: Members Johnson, Smith, Chase, Griffin, Starkey. Ex-Officios Riesland and Bryant. City Attorney Keith Atherton. Absent: Member Parke. Minutes of the regular meeting held Mar.eh :-5,; when read by the clerf-, were approved as read. ZONE VARIANCE: The clerk read a letter from Mr. Everett C.Fox requesting permission to operate an Electric Household Appliance Shop at his residence known as 230 Fig Avenue, Chula Vista, for the purpose of repairing electrical appliances, stating he was unable to find a location vacant in the business zone of the city at the present time. Attached to the letter were signatures of adjoining property owners approving same. After. much discussion it was moved by Member Starkey, seconded by Member Chase, and carried, that Mr.Fox be granted permission to operate for a period of six months, or revokable within that period at the will of the Planning Commission, or, upon the objection of any person in that nei ghborhood. The above motion was made after discussing the urgent need of repair men, and further for the reason that Mr.Fox incurred an injury keeping him from outside work. ZONE VARIANCE: The clerk read a letter from Mr. T.R.Anderson requesting that he be allowed to keep approximately 200 chickens and 100 rabbits on his residence property.,--located at 148-4th Avenue, Chula Vista, size of lot being 187 feet in depth. On the face of the letter were signatures of adjoining property owners having no objection to the above proposal. Upon motion by Member Starkey, seconded by I&mber Griffin, which carried, it was moved that Mr. Anderson be granted a temporary zone variance; permit for one year, provided he use existing structure and equipment, and revobable at any time deemed necessary by the Planning Commission. REMOVAL OF ACACIA TREE: Mr.Arnold appeared before the C omnis si on with the request that he be given permission to remove a black acacia tree from the parkway in front of his property at 175-5th Avenue. Lb?.George Ray". Plahn.ing Director,., was instructed to look at the tree, and report back to the Commission at its next regular meeting, After some discussion regarding the matter of much time between meetings, Member Griffin made,'the motion, seconded by Member Starkeyr; that Mr.Ray look at the tree and act accordingly. REMOVAL OF EUCALYPTUS TREES. Upon motion by Member Chase, seconded by Member Griffin, which carried, it was moved to confirm action of Chairman Johnson, authorizing the removal of eucalyptus trees from thet property, portion of which lies in the city limits of Chula Vista, owned by Mrs. Hazel G.Cook of Hilltop Drive. LETTER OF THANKS TO ROAR AIRCRAFT CORPORATION: Upon motion by Member Griffin, seconded by Member Chase, which carried, Mr.Ray was instructed to write a letter to the Rohr Aircraft Corporation, tendering its thanks and compliments in its recently consumnated negotiations entered into for the purpose of creating a continued high employment within this area. Letter to be prepared for the signature of Member Johnson, Chairman of the Planning Cormaission. LETTER OF THANKS TO MISS YUNKER, Librarian.. Upon motion by member Griffin, seconded by Member Chase, which carried, Mr.Ray was instructed to write a letter of thanks to Miss Lucile Yunker, Chula Vista Librarian, thanking her for her cooperation with Mr.Ray in her tabulation of data requested. TELEGRAMS TO STATE CAPITOL: Upon motion by Member Griffin, seconded by Member Starkey, which carried, the City clerk was instructed to send a telegram to both Senator Ed Fletcher and Assemblyman Charles W.Stream at Sacramento, urging them to support Senate Bill S.B.6250 and to vote against removal of 0*Day Amendment in A.B.21/:2. ADTOUFMIENT: Upon motion by Member Griffin, seconded by Member Starkey, the meeting adjourned sine die. er
