The Commission met in regular session on the above date, at 7 .30 p.m. , in the Council Chambers of the city hall, with Chairman Johnson presiding. Present: Members Johnson, Parke, Smith and Chase; By proxy Member Starkey. Absent: Member Griffin. Also present were City Manager George Ray, and City Attorney Keith Atherton. Minutes of the regular meeting held August 6, 1945, having been prepared and mailed to each member of the Commission, dere approved as prepared and mailed. ZONE VARIANCE - Amo Arnold - Removal of trees and curb set-back. 16r.Arnold having requested,by application,for zone variance, upon motion by Member Chase, seconded by Member Parke , and carried, Resolution was passed empowering the City Manager to work out a satisfactory curb variation at the Southeast corner of "F" Street and Landis Street, in the City of Chula Vista, to facilitate the installation of a new garage and filling station. RECONMENDATION BY RESOLUTION OF ARCHITECT FOR CIVIC CENTER: Upon motion by Member Smith, seconded by Member Chase, which carried, ' Resolution was passed to the effect that the Commission strongly urge the Ci ty C ouncil to take s tees for employ E.Charle s Parke of 198 11K11 Street, Chula Vista, on the proposed Civic Center Buildings, and that this action be taken with all possible speed, in order to take advantage of possible government assistance which is apparently forthcoming. MR.PARKE•S, QUALIFICATIORS: Architect for: San. Bernardino High School - costing $350,000.00 (3 different jobs) to X400,000.00 Medical Dental Building - San Bernardino............ Barstow High School & Grammar School. . . . . . . . . . . .'$275,000 and $150,000 Coachella Valley High School $275,000.00. Colton Gymnasium............ $125,000.00 King's County Hospital at Hanford..................... 0250,000.00 (125 beds) Elks Club & Masonic Temple in Fresno. I any other hotels, schools and office buildings. Also Architect in charge of construction at Rohr Aircraft Corporation for the last three (3) years. Mr.Herbert H.Johnson, Chairman of the Commission, made note that he had known P;br.Parke for the past twelve years. l-OJO R?IE,N-T: There being; no further business to come before the Commission, upon motion by Member Parke , seconded by I-ember Chase, the meet ing adjourned sine die.
