HomeMy WebLinkAbout1954-06-21 PC MINS MINUTES OF A REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CHUI A VISTA, CALIFORNIA Held Monday, June 21, 1954 The Chula Vista Planning Commission met in the Council Chamber at Civic Center at 7:30 P.M. on the above date with the following Members present: Stewart, Farris, Harmstead, Henninger, Trook. Absent: ;Members Mohr, Smith. , Also Present: Asset, to the City Engineer, Johnson. APPRWAL OF MINUTES It was moved by Member Farris, seconded .by Member Harmstead and unanimously carried, that the minutes of the. meeting `of June 7, 1954 be approved, copies having been mailed to each member. FIRST PUBLIC HEARING - Zoning of "Country Club Hills No. 1" and "Country .Club Park No. 211. Chairman Stewart declared that sir_c_e this was the time and place, as advertised, for the first public hearing on the zoning of the above-mentioned tracts as Ra-l., One Family Zone, the public hearing was open. Since there was no one present either for or against said zoning, the public hearing was declared closed. FINAL MAP - Country Club Park No. 5 - Eugene Boas for Hob art ,Investment Co. It was moved by Member Farris, seconded by Member Trook and unanimously carried, that the Final Map of Country Club Park No. 5 be approved' subject to final check by the engineering department. LETTER— Hargrotre and- Glenn. The Secretary read a letter from Messrs. Hargrove and Glenn requesting an amend- ment of a zone variance granted them on June 7, 1954 for a �5' x 150r strip of land on their property in the 500 Blk. on National Avenue, to be used as a- parking lot for a proposed bank. The requested amendment would allow the use of said strip of land for the bank building rather than a parking lot. It was moved by Member Harmstead, seconded by Member Trook and unanimously carried,, that the request be granted for, the reasons stated in the letter, provided an equivalent amount of space is provided for off-street parking facilities. STATEMENT - Annual Dues, S. D. County Planning Congress. The Secretary presented a statement of annual dues in the amount of $10.006 It was moved by Member Farris, seconded by Member, Harmstead and unanimously carried, that membership in the 5&n Diego County Planning Congress be renewed and that the Secretary be instructed to mail a'check in the amount of $10.00 to the Secretary- Treasurer of.the Planning Congress. w DISCUSSION - Proposed Zone Ordinance and Map. A general and lengthy discussion followed, with representatives of the business people on National Ave. present. It was the consensus of opinion that as a whole, the proposed ordinance.is most satisfactory'. The controversial C-3 zone, was discussed i at length, and Chairman Stewart requested that each member give special thought to the problem of whether-or not the C-3 zone should be included in the ordinance and make recommendations at the meeting of. July 6, 1954. (TE MONT ELY MEETING - July and August. Since it has been. the practice in the last few years to hold only one meeting a month during July and August, it was moved by Member Farris, seconded by Member Benninger and unanimously carried, that only one monthly meeting be held in July and August.
