Worth, Gregory Alabado, ABSENT: Joanne D. Clayton (unexcused), M. Theresa Ahmed (excused) STAFF: Juan Arroyo, Housing Manager F Leilani Hines, Senior Community Development Specialist Palmira Montiel, Secretary. 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES — November 20, 2002 Minutes Were approved as written: Barbara Worth made a motion to approve the iminutes, Greg Alabado seconded the motion. 2. REGIONAL HOUSING NEED - Leilani- Hines lead the discussion on the SANDAG proposed Regional Housing needs assessment and its relationship to the City of Chula Vista.. I, Leilani Hines proceeded to explain that the Regional Housing Needs Working Group met six times to formulate methodologies for allocating the regional share numbers for the 2004-2009 housing element cycle to the local jurisdictions. Mrs. Hines explained the various methods used to consider household and employment growth. 3. STAFF REPORTS Juan Arroyo gave an update on Heritage Town Center. All family units have been completed, senior units are 75% complete. Grand. opening late February 2003. Mr. A rroyo alsocommented that a ground breaking ceremony for the Main Plaza is projected for,late February 2003. Leilani Hines updated the Commission on the Eastlake III Affordable Housing Proposal. This project will involve 150 family rental units and will be presented to the HAC next month-. i MARC a 41 unit Senior Project is being reviewed by Planning and the Design Review Committee and will be presented to the HAC next month. j 1 4. MEMBERS COMMENTS Mr..Alabado commended Housing Staff for preparing the Housing Development Community Resource Guide. Ms. Worth requested Commission members be given a copy of the Economic Development Strategy. Ms.l Worth remarked on possibly getting new members for the Housing Advisory Commission. Juan Arroyo stated this-was currently being reviewed. Ms Worth stated she heard the property on 2"d Avenue, between Quintard and Palomar would soon be up for sale and perhaps it would be wise for the City to consider the purchase. Juan Arroyo said he would look into this. I 5. ADJOURNMENT i To the next general meeting of February 26, 2003.
