Steve Zasueta, Gregory Alabado, Earl Jentz, Nancy Batterman, Margie Reese, Dina Chavez, Aurora Cudal, Armida Martin Del Campo, Mark Minas STAFF: Stacey Kurz, Senior Community Development Specialist manda Mills, Housing Manager IPalmira Montiel, Senior Secretary 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES ➢ Minutes for June 28, 2006 were not presented. This item has been tabled for the next meeting. 2. 2005-2010 HOUSING ELEMENT PROGRAM PRIORITIZATION Staff Kurz stated the public review ended 7/17/06. The City is waiting for State HCD comments and if all is well, next step is to obtain the Negative Declaration, environmental document to be out for public review on 8/4/06 for a 30 day review. On 8/23/06, the Element will be brought back to be re�iewed by HAC for a recommendation of approval. On 9/13 it will be taken to the Planning Commission for their approval and then to City Council on 9/26/06 for final adoption. The work program will also be presented to HAC on 8/23. Staff Kurz requested members fill out the forma with their top 10 priorities. Members were asked to e-mail, mail or fax their response back to Leilani Hines' attention. 3. STAFF REPORTS ➢ Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation Update— No updates available ➢ Relocation Resource Guide — Communications is working on the layout of the Resource G ide. Staff presented the text that will go in the actual brochure for the displaced. ➢ Article XXXIV— Staff Mills stated the State of California requires that if a jurisdiction wants to help develop/purchase affordable housing they must get approval from citizens. Staff Mills passed out a sheet with a single question asking the citizens if they approve the participation of the City in building up to 1600 affordable units throughout the city. All aniswers needed to be submitted by Friday 7/28/06. A copy of the report was asked to be e-mailed to the members. Staff Mills agreed to send this out after the deadline on Friday. Member Cudal made a motion to approve the participation of the City in supplying affordable units. Member Alabado second the motion. ➢ Other Housing Issues — Staff Kurz informed the members of the new information line (691 -5600), which has been set up with four options ranging from mobilehome to i1 pug chase of affordable housing. Housing Advisory Commission ' - Page 2 of 2 4. MEMBER COMMENTS Chair Zasueta asked the members to review their information on the Commission Member List. Member IJentz asked if the commission would have an opportunity to review the State comments after they were returned. Staff Kurz stated this would be reviewed at the regular August meeting. Members asked if we could just e-mail them the meeting packets vs. mailing them out as well. Members stated they would copy their own packet unless it was a big mailing, which we would then copy and mail as well as e-mail. i 5. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None 6.
