HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2002-386- RESOLUTION NO. 2002-386 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT THE INTERSECTION OF OTAY LAKES ROAD AND APACHE DRIVE/MIRACOSTA CIRCLE IN THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA (PROJECT TF-301), AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO TRANSFER FUNDS FROM THIS PROJECT BACK TO THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATIONS AT THE INTERSECTIONS OF MEDICAL CENt'ER DRIVE AND MEDICAL CENTER COURT/WILDAUER COURT (TF-296) AND MEDICAL CENTER DRIVE AND EAST NAPLES STREET/EAST NAPLES COURT Clt-297), IN ORDER TO REIMBURSE COSTS BORROWED FROM THE ABOVE-MENTIONED PROJECTS TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT FOR THE TF-301 PROJECT AHEAD OF SCHEDULE WHEREAS, at 2:00 p.m. on September 11, 2002 in the engineering library, the Director of Public Works received the following three sealed bids for the "Traffic Signal Installation at the intersection of Otay Lakes Road and Apache Drive/Miracosta Circle in the City of Chula Vista, California CFF-301)": i '~..-'l Contractor Bid Amount ~ ~ction, Inc. i ~1~ .... } 'r~ M ~!~ dba p~ ~!~ctt~......i ................................ .~p:~ ................................ [ 3 J Lekos Electric, Inc i Insufficient Bid WHEREAS, thc low bid, submitted by HMS Construction, Inc., is below the final engineer's estimate of $$7,210.00 by $$,256.00 or approximately 9%; and WHEREAS, the contractor has completed recent projects in the City and its performance has been satisfactory; and WHEREAS, the work involved in this project is exempt under Section 15301, Class lc of the California Environmental Quality Act (Minor Alterations of Existing Public Improvements or Public Structures). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby accept bids and award the contract for "Traffic Signal Installation at the intersection of Otay Lakes Road and Apache Drive/Miracosta Circle in the City of Chula Vista, California (TF-301) Project" to HMS Construction, Inc. in the amount of $51,954.00. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of Chula Vista is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of the City of Chula Vista. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that staff is hereby authorized to transfer funds of $81,527.05 from the subject project back to the traffic signal installations at the intersections of Medical Center Drive and Medical Center Court/Wildauer Court (TF-296) and Medical Center Resolution 2002-386 Page 2 Drive and East Naples Street/East Naples Court (TF-297) in order to reimburse costs borrowed from the above-mentioned projects to purchase equipments for the TF-301 project ahead of schedule.
