APPROVAL OF MINUTES _ Motion made by Vice -Chair Mellor and seconded by Trustee Swanson to approve the meeting minutes from October 19, 2016. Motion carried (3-0). II. APPROVAL OF ABSENCE(S) Motion made by Vice -Chair Mellor and seconded by Trustee Swanson to approve the absence of Chair Young from the meeting of October 19, 2016. Motion carried (3-0). III. NEw BUSINESS — None IV. OLD BUSINESS A. Director Waznis informed the Board that the CVPL Foundation suggested the joint meeting be scheduled in March. The Library will have more information regarding the infrastructure bond and the Millenia project library at that time. The Board of Library Trustees concurred with the Foundation's suggestion and proposed the meeting be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Branch Library conference room. Staff will inform the CVPL Foundation and the Friends Executive Board. MINUTES BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES V. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT A. Otay Ranch Branch Library and The Hub — Both leases have been extended through April 2020. B. Measure P (Infrastructure Bond) Passed. The City asked each department to submit a list of projects for consideration. The Library's list contained approximately 40 items. C. The Civic Center Branch public restrooms in the main lobby (across the hallway from the conference room and computer lab) will be renovated. The City is working with an architect to propose three different options. D. Mr. Stephen Kalaluhi has resigned from the Board. The Trustees expressed their appreciation for Mr. Kalaluhi's service and wished him well. E. The new Heritage Museum exhibit will open on January 29, 2017 and coincide with the Friends' Annual Meeting. Next year's exhibit will showcase Rohr Industries. F. The City Manager is working with the Economic Development Director to look for funding options for the new library in the Millenia Project. The Library currently only offers approximately 30,000 sq. ft. of space for the east side of the City. This is insufficient for a population of over 100,000 residents. VI. COMMUNICATIONS A. Friends of the Chula Vista Library - None B. Chula Vista Public Library Foundation — None C. Public Comments - None D. Written Comments — None E. Board Comments — Trustee Kalaluhi submitted his written letter of resignation. VII. ADJOURNMENT Chair Young adjourned the meeting at 4:46 p.m. The next Board of Library Trustees meeting will be on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Branch Library.
