HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-04-05 CRC MINSMINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA CHARTER REVIEW COMMISSION April 5, 2004 City Attorney's Conference Room 4:00 p.m. ------------------------------------------------------------------- MEMBERS PRESENT: Harriet Acton, Mark Croshier, Armida Martin Del Campo, Humberto Peraza, Jr. MEMBERS ABSENT: David Potter, Cheryl Cox and Sergio Feria STAFF PRESENT: Assistant City Attorney Sharon A. Marshall The meeting was called to order at 4:15 p.m. 1. Roll Call. The roll was called and members were noted as present or absent as indicated above. 2. Approval of Minutes. MSUC (Croshier/Del Campo) to approve minutes of January 12, 2004 as presented. 3. Review (Cheryl Cox) and Discussion of Campaign Contribution Ordinance. It was suggested by Member Del Campo and agreed to by the Commission to wait until the next scheduled meeting to move forward with its discussion of the Campaign Contribution Ordinance when Member Cox could be present. 4. New Business. Member Peraza discussed the subject of local election term limits. It was noted that currently the Charter provides for the possibility of two consecutive four-year terms. At the end of the two four-year terms the candidate must take a one-year break before being eligible to run for office for another potential eight years. The Commission has requested that they receive copies of the June 5, 2000 and November 20, 2000 minutes of the Charter Review Commission for review at which meetings this subject was a also a topic of discussion. It was decided that Attorney Marshall research the subject of term limits and provide the Commission with a verbal report for discussion at the next meeting.
