I MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA CHARTER REVIEW COMMISSION f January 14, 2008 City Attorney's Conference Room4:00 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Humberto Peraza, Jr., Elizabeth Scott, William Richter, Ron Kelley, Pete De Lara and Armida Martin Del Campo MEMBERS ABSENT: Egbert Oostburg (excused) STAFF PRESENT: David Miller, Deputy City Attorney; and Cindy McNary, Legal Assistant PUBLIC PRESENT: Pamela Bensoussan The meeting was called to order at 4:10 p.m. 1. Roll Call. Humberto Peraza, Chair called the meeting to order at 4:10 p.m. The roll was called and members were noted as present or absent as indicated above. 2. Approval of December 10, 2007 Minutes Motion was made by Ron Kelly, seconded by Bill Richter and approved unanimously. 2. Public Comment. Pamela Bensoussan stated for the record that she is in support of the present language regarding Term Limits in the Chula Vista Municipal Code. 3. New Business. Term Limits Humberto Peraza began the discussion regarding new language for term limits. David Miller distributed copies,of the proposed language for the Commissioners to review (see attachment). A discussion followed. A motion was made by Humberto Peraza, seconded by Bill Richter and passed unanimously. Charter Review Commission 1 January 14, 2008 i 4. Members' Comments. NEXT MEETING: To be determined MEETING ADJOURNED AT 6:05 p.m. Ch I Ponds Secretary Charter Review Commission 2 January 14, 2008 ATTACHMENT PROPOSED TERM LIMIT LANGUAGE No person may serve more than two full terms as Council Member, or Mayor. If a person serves a partial term in excess of two years, it shall be considered a full term for the purpose of this provision. These term limits shall apply only to terms of office that begin on or after ; however, in no event shall any individual serve more than two consecutive terms.
