Items pulled from the Consent Calendar will be discussed immediately following the Consent Calendar. 1. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS A. Email from Co-Chair Starr requesting an excused absence from the November 2, 2017 regular Civil Service Commission Meeting. B. Email from Commissioner Gonzales requesting an excused absence from the December 7, 2017 regular Civil Service Meeting. Staff recommendation: Commission excuses the absence. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES of November 2, 2017 and December 7, 2017 Staff recommendation: Commission approves the minutes. 3. CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL OF THE PROMULGATION OF THE ELIGIBLE LISTS: A. Veterinarian II, 0.75 FTE Promotional (RECRUITMENT #17533312P) Staff recommendation: Commission approves the promulgation of the eligible lists. PUBLIC COMMENTS Persons speaking during Public Comments may address the Commission on any agenda matter within the Commission’s jurisdiction that is not listed as an item on the agenda. State law generally prohibits the Commission from discussing or taking action on any issue not included on the agenda, but, if appropriate, the Commission may schedule the topic for future discussion or refer the matter to staff. Comments are limited to three minutes. ACTION ITEMS The item(s) listed in this section of the agenda will be considered individually by the Commission and are expected to elicit discussion and deliberation. If you wish to speak on any item, please advise the Chairperson prior to the meeting. 4. CONSIDERATION TO APPROVE THE ADDITION OF THE FOLLOWING CLASSIFICATION TO THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN PER THE CIVIL SERVICE RULE 1.02 A (3) A. Stormwater Program Manager (MM) Staff recommendation: Commission approves the new classification. 5. CONSIDERATION OF APPROVING AN EXTENSION OF THE ELIGIBLE LISTS: A. Fire Battalion Chief, Promotional (RECRUITMENT #17551101P) to March 23, 2019. B. Human Resources Senior Office Specialist (RECRUITMENT #17017305) to August 28, 2018. Staff recommendation: Commission approves extensions. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS 6. SUBCOMMITTEE UPDATES ON THE REVIEW/REVISION OF THE CIVIL SERVICE RULES. Staff recommendation: Commission provides applicable updates. 7. SELECTION OF DATE(S) AVAILABILITY FOR APPEAL HEARING OF CITY EMPLOYEE DISCIPLINE (DISMISSAL) PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 1.08 (D) AND GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54957(B)(1).
