MINUTES

1. MEETING CALL TO ORDER at 5:15 p.m.
2. MEMBERS PRESENT Commissioners: Turner, David, Winters, Monaghan and Chair Villa.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - Hearing no objections, the Minutes of December 9, 1993 were approved.
4. APPROVAL OF EXAMINATION ANNOUNCEMENTS

MSC (TURNER/DAVID) 5-0 to approve Examination Announcements.
Ms. David asked where the job announcements are advertised. Ms. Boshell explained that the Personnel Department uses
a standard mailing list, a Job Interest List and a Job Hotline to promote openings. Ms. Kessler also explained that the
Personnel Department takes into consideration the level of the position which is going to be advertised. This helps the
department to determine where it should be advertised.
Mr. Monaghan pointed out that the master backside of the job announcement should be looked over for mistakes and
updated.

Ms. David asked what the difference was between Com. Operator I and II?. Ms. Boshell explained the differences
regarding the levels and duties.
MSC (DAVID/MONAGHAN) 5-0 to approve the Eligible's list.
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. Memorandum regarding the merging of Senior Planner Eligibles list.
Mr. Turner had some questions about the number of employees effected and the recruitment process. Ms. Boshell
explained that opening up the position again would give everyone an opportunity to apply or re -apply for the position.
MSC (TURNER/DAVID) 5.0 to approve the merger of the Senior Planner Eligibles List.
B. Gene Cobb's request for permission to exceed the maximum allowable vacation accrual when maximum
hours are reached.
Mr. Monaghan explained that he was unfamiliar with the process and asked that it be clarified. Ms. Boshell clarified the
• process for exceeding the maximum allowable vacation accrual.
MSC (TURNER/WINTERS) 5-0 to approve the request to exceed the maximum allowable vacation accrual for Gene
Cobb.
7. OTHER BUSINESS -a. Ms. Boshell informed the Commissioners that the Personnel Department would
like to bring in a guest speakers.
8. CHAIR'S COMMENTS - Chair Villa welcomed the new Commissions on broad. Commissioners introduced
themselves and the meeting continued.
9. COMMISSIONERS' COMMENTS - Mr. Turner also welcomed the new members to the Commission.
10. PUBLIC COMMENTS Chair Villa asked if there were any public comments. Two students in the audience were
in attendance. They were taking notes of the meeting for a school project.
11. ADJOURNMENT (5:40 P.M.) - TO THE NEXT REGULAR MEETING OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION ON
