' APPROVAL OF EXAMINATION ANNOUNCEMENTS 24801 Open Deputy Building Official 01802 , Open Senior Office Specialist — Bilingual 02802 Prom Senior Community Development Specialist 03302 Open Library Associate 03502 Open Animal Control Officer MSC (CHIDESTERITRIPLETTE) 3.0 To approve the Examination Announcements. 5. APPROVAL OF ELIGIBLE LIST 01201 Open Librarian I/ll 20101 Open Community Development Specialist Illi 21401 Open Senior Secretary 23101 Open Plans Examiner 25001 Open Senior Librarian 25701 Open Environmental Projects Manager MSC (VEALITRIPLETTE) 3-0 To approve the Eligible List. 6. NEW BUSINESS - A. Request to Extend the Current Firefighter List for An Additional Six (6) Month submitted by Douglas Perry, Fire Chief. Chair Veal moved to table the item until representation from the department is able to be present. Commissioners agreed that the item be tabled until the next regular meeting. I. MSC(VEALICHIDESTER) 3-0 to Item tabled until representation from the Department is able to attend. B. Request a Double Merit Increase for Sheryl Ruiz -Jones Effective March 8, 2002 Submitted by John Kaheny, City Attorney. Chair Veal moved to table the item until representation from the department is able to be present. Commissioners agreed that the item be tabled until the next regular meeting. MSC (CHIDESTERIVEAL) 3-0 Item tabled until representation from the Department is able to attend. 7. OTHER BUSINESS - A. Review of Civil Service Commission. Commissioner Chidester stated that he met with Marcia Raskin, Assistant Director of Human Resources to review and provide input to Section 1 of the Civil Service Rules. Rodrigo Viesca, Vice -President of CVEA, commented that the Union has not agreed to the rules as they are written and are in the process of reviewing the document. Mr. Viesca stated that the Union is still in a meet and confer status with the City. . t •' Commissioner Chidester stated that he is aware that the Human Resources Department is working with the various unions in revising the document. Mr. Chidester stated that Section 2 of the Civil Service Rules is very complicated and it will take work to revise the section. Mr. Viesca, Vice -President of CVEA stated his concerns regarding sections of the rules that deal with discipline and procedure. Chair Veal interjected stating that the Commission is not meeting to debate the Civil Service Rules at this time and requested to move on to Item B. B. Interview Applicants for Current Vacancy The Commissioners interviewed Ms. Cowlishaw. Questions were asked regarding education, experience and interest in serving as a commissioner. Chief Veal thanked Ms. Cowlishaw for attending the meeting and informed her that the commission will forward their recommendations to the Mayor's Office for selection. 8. COMMUNICATIONS A. Chair's Comments — None B. Commissioners' Comments Commissioner Chidester reminded everyone that the annual Statement of Economic Interest is due April1st. C. Staff Comments - None C. Public Comments Mr. Viesca, Vice President of the Chula Vista Employees Association, introduced himself and said that he plans on attending the meetings of the Civil Service Commission. 9.
