6. NEW BUSINESS -
A. Appeal of Discipline by City Employee (CSC.030)
Staff confirmed date, time and location for the employee appeal.
B. Request to Extend the Sergeant Eligibility List for an additional six (6) months submitted by Rick Emerson, Chief of
Police.
Captain Miranda was in attendance to answer any questions. He explained the benefits of staggering the list and allowing for the
department to utilize the existing list. Captain Miranda pointed out that there would be one more appointment from the list.
MSC (TRIPLETTEISILVA) 4-0 To approve the request to extend the Sergeant's Eligibility List for an additional six months.
C. Brochures and Information Notices submitted regarding City Communications.
Staff provided a variety of brochures and notices that are used to communication information to city employees. Items included the
CityNews Letter, the Weekly Communiques emails from the Deputy City Manager, Stoplight brochure and the Volunteer News flyer.
Commissioner Chidester requested that the Spotlight be omitted since they receive it with the city's utility bill.
Marcia Raskin, Director of Human Resources gave a brief outline on the report of termination and new hires as requested by the
Commission at the last meeting. Ms. Raskin also stated that the Human Resources department is working with the City Manager on
filling most positions internally. The Commissioners continued to discuss the format of the report and its contents.
7. OTHER BUSINESS -
• A. Fitness for Duty Physicians List — Update submitted by Marcia Raskin, Director of Human Resources.
This report was submitted due to changes, updated or deletions of participating physicians. No action required.
. B. Workshop to Review Civil Service Rules scheduled for August 14, 2003
Marcia Raskin, Director of Human Resources reports that the workshop is a training session for those commissioners who have not
had the opportunity to have this type of training. The training session will cover appeal process procedures, the role of the
Commission during hearings, deliberations and other information. Sharon Marshall, Assistant City Attorney will conduct the training.
