1. Meeting Called to Order
Chair Redo called the meeting'to order at 5:35 pm.

2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES of the October 13, 2003 meeting:
Unanimously approved.

a. Taste of the Arts Sponsors — Renewed & New
1. SDG&E - $3,000.00, renewed
2. Otay Ranch Company - $1,000.00, renewed

The sculpture began to crumble after 23 years and has been removed from Friendship
Park. Ric is working on a pad for temporary art to appear on a rotating basis.

k. Board of Trustees in Sweetwater is in favor of building a "Fame -like" school that would
be open to any student in the district. (Commissioner Larussa)

6. Commissioner's Comments
a.
Commissioners Dinnah and Fran — VIP Reception for Sponsors of the Taste
The meeting for October 27 was cancelled due to the fires. Meeting will be
rescheduled, date to be determined.
b.
Rudy Ramirez called Commissioner Redo to'meet with the CAC. According to the
Brown Act, meeting with political candidates is illegal.
c.
CAC adjourned at 5:45 pm to take group photograph for new brochure; reconvened at
6:00 to continue meeting.
d.
Brochure sub -committee met to revise Mission Statement, which was distributed and
discussed. Statement approved for brochure with minor changes.
e.
Commissioner Voorhees suggested that CAC send a letter to Greg Cox (County Board of
Supervisors) requesting funding from Community Project Discretionary Fund for the
brochure. Letter will be drafted by Staff Reinhart and signed by Commissioner Redo.
f.
Film Festival at the Library from November 16 through December 9.
g.
Urban Tree Dedication on November 15
h.
Port Commission Meeting on November 17 to discuss the possibility of a land swap.
Commissioner Cornell will attend the meeting on behalf of the CAC.
i.
Chula Vista. 20/20 General Plan Update. Town hall Community Workshops will be held
on November 15, 17, and 19 at various locations.
j.
GOMC indicate Third Avenue as a cultural arts center, but Commissioner Gore was to
expand to western part of the city also.
k.

7. Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 6:33 pm. Next meeting is Monday, December 8, 2003
at the Chula Vista Civic Center Library at 5:30 p.m.
