1. Call to Order/Roll Call
Meeting called to order by Chairman Redo at 5:35 pm.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chris Redo, Bob McGlade, Fran Cornell, Al Gore,
Kerry Knowlton, Gerald LaRussa, Smith, Todd
Voorhees, Walter Tubbs
COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None
CITY STAFF PRESENT: Ric Todd, Roderick Reinhart, Patricia Spalding
OTHERS PRESENT: None
2. Approval of Consent Agenda

a. Approval of minutes of February 8, 2004 meeting held over until April
meeting.
3. Introductions
None .
4. Staff Updates:
a. Taste of the Arts — sponsorships: Otay Water District & Wells Fargo have
been confirmed as sponsors
b. Vendors — 63 Booths are confirmed, including 12 food vendors, compared
to last year, which totaled 50 booths. Seventy-five percent of the 63
booths are from outside of San Diego County.
c. KSWB TV — contract is in and signed
d. San Diego Symphony Orchestra contract is finished. A lot of staff time
was spent on getting a contract with the Symphony. It has also been
formally approved the City Council.
e. Contracts for performers appearing on the Marina Serenade Stage are
finished
f. The Taste of the Arts will play a major role in the Ports "Big Bay"
advertising campaign
g. Applications have been mailed to National Arts Program juried
exhibitions applicants.
h. The National Arts Program award -winners exhibition and reception is
scheduled for the South County Court House for a six-week run.
i. Marina Serenade Stage performers, Roberto Limon & Tango Alma will
also perform with the San Diego Symphony.
j. The Martin Luther King Gospel Choir and San Diego Dance Theater will
repeat the premier collaboration of " Song of Nyumbani".
k. March is National Arts Education Month — Wednesday March 10, 2004
the reception for the Student Exhibition at the South Chula Vista Library
will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
1. Grant application booklets have been mailed and technical workshops are
scheduled for March 10 & 13 at the Chula Vista Civic Center Library —
Conference Room — 6 to 7 p.m. on the 1 e and 10 —11 a.m. on the 13`h.
The grant deadline is Friday, April 2, 2004. Next years grant application
will be available on the web site, and paper copies will not be mailed. The
2004 application should be on the website soon also.
m. Invitations & Brochure: Ric distributed a copy of last year's invitation for
the Commission and they agreed to keep everything the same after
changing the dates. We are still waiting for the paper, which has been
ordered. The same mailing list from 2003 will be used and Bob McGlade
will hand -address the invitations for the VIP Reception. The money for
the brochure has been approved and will be forthcoming. The following
decision, assignments or volunteers were noted for the reception and
TOA:
1 RECEPTION
• Water is being donated (Rod is waiting for delivery date)
which will also be sold at TOA on 4/18/03
• Bob McGlade will provide wine
• Purchase plastic wine glasses
• Purchase plastic glasses for soda
• Al Gore will be photographer
• Todd Voorhees will bring two metal tubs with ice
• Ric Todd will prepare the program
• Chris Redo requested `nice' name tags to go in clip -on plastic
holders, using the CV logo and dancing children
• Office of Communications is the contact for media coverage
TOA
• Ric will email Commissioners with a sign-up sheet for the TOA for
each to indicate a time to work the booth
• Commissioners will receive a parking pass to park in the vendor lot
• A map and parking pass will be mailed to Commissioners
• Ric will contact Wells Fargo to inquire if the could provide an ATM
machine
• A customer survey will be developed to distribute
• Provide a flyer with dates and sites on Music in the Park

6. Commissioner's Comments
• Bayfront Project Update from Fran Cornell: The project is moving along
very well. Additional meetings are scheduled for 3/29 at Bob's on the
Bay, on 3/30 a joint meeting, and on 3/23 at 1:00 pm in Conference Room
3 at the Port Building.
• Notes from the Commissioner's Workshop held on 2/25 and 2/26: The
CAC does not have a fiduciary responsibility, so members are not required
to disclose personal assets (Form 700)
• Parks and Recreation Department is opening three large parks in 2005.
The CAC is welcome to attend their commission meetings.
• There is an opening on the Bayfront Committee for Art. Ric will
investigate how to get on the Bayfront Commission and request a standing
membership for the chair of the CAC.
7. Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m. Next meeting is Monday,
April 12, 2004 at the Chula Vista Civic Center Library at 5:30 p.m.
