Motion was made (Commissioner Redo) and seconded (Commissioner
Knowlton) to approve the minutes of the June 11 meeting. Motion was carried
unanimously.
3. Announcements
Staff member Reinhart announced that Commissioner Vinson has submitted her
resignation from the Cultural Arts Commission.
Staff member Reinhart also announced that Ric Todd will no longer serve as a
staff liaison to the Cultural Arts Commission meetings.
4. Oral Communications
Eric Crockett briefly discussed the possibilities of a proposed project at Third
Avenue and Park Way, the current site of the Social Security Administration
building. The proposed project would be a mixed-use facility to include 80-150
condominiums and retail shops. Behind the ground floor retail spaces is
approximately 6,000 square feet that could be used as a venue for cultural arts
displays or events. Commissioners Bolles, Deavenport, Liston and Smith

r' volunteered for a subcommittee to create a list of what the Cultural Arts
Commission would like to see in the space. The list will be presented at the next
meeting.
5. Old Business
Commissioner Deavenport commented that the annual Boards and Commission
recognition event was a success.
6. New Business
a. Report from Port of San Diego Public Art Committee's City of Chula Vista
Representative — Souval
Representative Souval will be attending a workshop on the process of approving
public art. She also announced that the "Urban Trees IV" exhibit is in place.
7. Staff Updates
a. FY07-08 Office of Arts and Culture Planning Document Review - Reinhart
Staff member Reinhart reviewed the Office of Arts and Culture plan for FY2007-
2008. Ric Todd is now responsible for cultural programming for the library.
8. Commissioner Comments
Commissioner Smith asked for a contact about replacing the curtains in the
• Women's Club.
The next Taste of the Arts Festival is scheduled for May 18, 2008.
Staff member Reinhart mentioned that the Music in the Park Concert Series has
been very well attended at both Veteran's and Salt Creek Parks.
9. Adjournment
Adjournment was made at 6:49 p.m. The next Cultural Arts Commission meeting
will be held at 5:45 p.m on Monday, August 13, 2007 in the Library Conference
Room of the Civic Center Library.
