suggested that a Cultural Arts Commissioner attend the meetings to see how
they progress before writing a letter of recommendation to the group.
Commissioner O'Shaughnessy mentioned that there will not be a parade this
year at Bonitafest.
Commissioner, Liston heard a comment being made that there were no "lemon -
related "items incorporated into this year's Lemon Festival. She suggested that
the commission send a letter of recommendation to TAVA on how to implement
the theme into next year's festival.
Commissioner Deavenport mentioned that the California Ballet Association will
be involved in the 2009 Heritage Project with the Port of San Diego. She
suggested that the Cultural Arts Commission have a booth at the event and also
combine an art or musical program at the site to make an "imprint" of the arts at
such Port sponsored events.
Commissioner Deavenport suggested looking at the city calendar for 2009 and
thinking of ways to incorporate art or music activities within existing festivals and
future events and working with organizations such as TAVA, Otay Ranch Town
Center and Bonitafest. This will give the Cultural Arts Commission more visibility
as well as provide more venues for the arts in the city.
Staff member Love will be attending the monthly TAVA meetings.
