APPROVAL OF MINUTES Approval of Minutes
Recommendation: Commission approve minutes
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Guest: None.
ACTION ITEMS
a. Chula Vista Veterans Park Brick Program update. Update on collaboration
with Friends of the Park’s Veterans Brick program and Veterans Advisory
Commission.
Recommendation: Commission hear update from Commissioner Perez.
b. Fallen Veteran Memorial at Memorial Park. Discuss ideas from the student’s
from New School of Architecture and Desi gn and finalize proposal to be
presented to the City.
Recommendation: Commission finalize proposal.
c. Veteran Memorial at Bay Front Park. Discussion of looking into having a
section of the Bay Front Park dedicated to Veterans and their families. Discussion
to formalize a letter to City electives and Port Commission.
Recommendation: Commission discuss formalizing of letter
d. Fallen Heroes Banners at Chula Vista Mall. Update on the process of
completing the banners for display at Chula Vista mall.
Recommendation: Commission hear update by Commissioner Torres.
e. State of the American Veterans Program with USC in San Diego. Further
discussion on program. Recommendation: Commissioner discuss item.
VETERANS ADVISORY COMMISSION
f. Veteran of the Year 2017. Update on the process of submitting VAC’s selection
of the CVVOY, Danny Carreon.
Recommendation: Commissioner Stewart discuss update.
g. Chula Vista Veterans Walk update: Discussion of possibly changing the ending
location and the route for the walk.
Recommendation: Chair Wunder provide update.
h. Veterans Activities Report: Commissioner Torres’ report on Veterans Activities
for the month of November 2017.
Recommendation: Commission receive report.
i. Veteran's Legislative Report: Review legislative report.
Recommendation: Commission review/discuss report.
