3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
In the absence of three commissioners, a formal meeting was not held, however, Chairman White informed the
attendees of several issues and provided handouts.

Unfinished Business
a. Street Names
Mr. White reported that Mr. William Keith, a resident of the Veterans Home, would street names
b. Veterans Park
Mr. White announced that the new park in Sunbow will possibly be on the agenda on October 17 at 6 p.m. He stated that
he was informed of this change by Mary Hofmockel via email.
c. Chula Vista Veterans Home Support Foundation Update
The Chula Vista Veterans Home is holding its Second Annual Golf Classic to benefit the residents of the Home on Friday,
November 8, 2002 at the Auld Course, 525 Hunte Parkway, Chula Vista. The proceeds from this event will ensure that the
veterans who so bravely served our country will have a holiday season they will never forget. Sponsorship packages are
available and great prizes will be awarded. For more information, contact John Smith at 205-1406.
There will also be a Four Mile Fun Walk on Saturday, November 9, 2002 with proceeds benefiting the Chula Vista
Veterans Home and Veterans Programs. Contact Diana Rude for further information at 425-8910.

d. Veterans Home Update
Mr. White gave a brief update of the Veterans Home. There are currently 230 residents with about 20 residents receiving
ADfull care.
e. Veteran of the Year Update
The Commissioners unanimously recommended John Willett for Chula Vista Veteran of the Year. This recommendation
was delivered to the Mayor's Office on Friday, September 271'.
f. Goals and Objectives
The goal of selecting a new Chair (Bob White) has been accomplished with Steve Millikin as the new Vice Chair.
g. Legislative Reports
Mr. White e-mailed the Commissioners a copy of TROA News, dated September 1311.
h. Oral History
Mr. Price advised that biographical informational data forms are available for pre-screening. Contact Diana Rude
at 425-8910 for further information.
4. COMMUNICATIONS
CHAIR'S COMMENTS
•Mr. White has received no response from the Eastlake teacher regarding the biographies. He will follow up after being informed
that a new teacher may take on the project. He also reminded everyone to fly their flags on National POW/MIA Day which is
September 20. The Chair also advised that a school will be built in the Sunbow area where the Veterans Park will be. He will
provide update on this issue periodically.
COMMISSIONERS COMMENTS
Mr. Price sent an email stating that his employer, SAIC, had donated $600.00 for the cost of t -shirts for the Veterans Walk.

Mr. William Keith, has sent a report to Mr. White regarding information he received from the developers.
