The minutes dated June 17, 2003 need to be amended to read July 15, 2003.

Contact has been made with City Hall regarding the Biographies being posted on the City Web Page. This will be taken
into consideration for the future.
b. Bridge Naming
Mr. Milliken has this for action. He has sent a letter to Mr. Jim Sandoval and Mr. Sandoval is receptive to the idea. Need
to get the names from the developers.
c. Veterans Park
Mr. White met with Mr. Buck Martin several weeks ago. Mr. Martin informed Mr. White the park construction would start in
August of next year and take about 15 months for completion. The veteran's will be invited to any ceremonies and
dedications for the park. The plans are still being looked at. This issue will be revisited in approximately nine months.
d. Veterans Home Update
Mr. John Smith was the guest and gave updates concerning the veteran's home.
e. CVVHSF Update
A check for $10,000.00 has been received. The check for $3500.00 has not been received. Mr. Martin will inquire as to
where the money is.
•f. Legislative Reports
House Bill_214 did pass the Senate's Revenue and Taxation Committee on 07/16/03. The bill is now being passed on to
the Senate's Appropriations Committee

. g. Veteran of the Year.
The Chula Vista Veterans Advisory Commission unanimously recommended Mr. Joe David Casillas as the Veteran of the
Year for 2003.
- h. Broadway Fundraiser
February 6, 2004 is the scheduled date at the VFW for the one night event to help raise funds for the foundation. Mr. Bill
Poindexter is coordinating the event and giving the updates regarding the fundraiser.
L Coronado Parade for July Fourth
Chula Vista would like representation for the parade. Gus Hermes is willing to look into Chula Vista representation for the
parade. A.Y. Casillas is willing to volunteer his car to carry the Veteran of the Year.
6. COMMUNICATIONS
CHAIR'S COMMENTS
Mr. William Keith accepted the appointment to the Veterans Advisory Commission to replace Mr. Augustive Hermes. Mr. Keith
is scheduled to be sworn in at the City Council on August 26, 2003.

All members of the Veterans Advisory Commission thanked Gus Hermes for his service on the board.
