Gene Pellerin _P_ Sherry Strothers —P- 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 5. ACTION ITEMS 1) Street name: Stephen Millikin met with McMillan and the planning commission and they created a list of street names, this has been approved by the city. Vista Verde will be built in approximately a year and a half. This list was distributed to all commissioners. Stephen Millikin indicated that he is still working on the Otay Ranch project. 2) Veteran's Park: Bobby Price mentioned the groundbreaking was last month and the dedication is planned for Veteran's Day 2005. 3) Veteran of the Year: No update at this time. 4) Veteran's Bios: Bobby Price mentioned the Robert White has updated them periodically. 5) Mendez-Acevez: The City is considering using Mendez-Acevez as a street name and will be notified by City Council. The City will be presenting Mendez-Acevez's mom a certificate and a commemoration. 6) Veteran's Walk: 12 walkers have signed up and $1,000 in donations. 7) Veteran's Home: No update at this time. 6. COMMUNICATIONS CHAIR'S COMMENTS Carmen Fedje's luncheon is tentatively scheduled for Friday, November 51n Veteran's Day Parade will be in downtown, Balboa Park on Veteran's Day November 11, 2004. COMISSIONERS COMMENTS. Stephen Millikin mentioned there will be a BBQ at the Veteran's home Saturday, October 23`d at 11:30am. Stephen Millikin added that the letter to Councilman McCann endorsing the Civic Center Veteran Memorial is still pending. STAFF COMMENTS 1 PUBLIC COMMENTS None 7.
