MINUTES
February 15, 2005

5. ACTION ITEMS
1) Veteran's Park: Robert White reported that 270 bricks have been sold. Over two months left
to purchase the bricks. The Veteran's Home will purchase $18,000 worth of bricks.
Commissioner White has been going to homes and informing residents of the brick
fundraiser.
2) March VAC meeting to be held in Veteran's home: There was a motion to move the meeting
to the Veteran's home for the March VAC meeting. Motion was moved and passed.
3) Veteran's Bios updates: Robert White stated that 115 biographies have been completed,
there are four remaining. Robert Lambugh is possibly an invalid name, possible names are
Lambeau or Rambeau.
4) Civic Center Memorial: There are no updates at this time, project will betaken over by A.Y.
Casilla and Gene Pellerin.
5) Memorial Bowl Engraving, Mendez-Acevez: Steve Millikin said that a letter was sent to the
Recreation Department and Danny Schreck who asked for more information so he can solicit
a bid on the engraving. Steve Millikin will check on the status.
6) Street Naming Update: Steve Millikin stated and he and Robert White met with Carolyn Young
from the City Planning department and McMillan representatives. McMillan approved 14
names to be used. Otay Ranch will use an additional 14 names to make it a total of 82 names
in total in Chula Vista. The bridges will named after major operations. There will be plaque,
soldier's story and how long the major operation lasted. Bobby Price added that the
Commission should brainstorm various major operations and send a list via e-mail with a brief
synopsis.
7) Veteran's Park Dedication: Robert White stated that the park is ahead of schedule. The park
will be opened to the public by the end of July. The formal dedication will be held on Veteran's
Day, 11/11/05 at f pm.
8)' Congresswoman Susan Davis Veteran's Roundtable Meeting: Bobby Price participated in
Congresswoman Susan Davis' veterans round table discussions. Topics included the change
in leadership in both the House VA committee and the USDVA Secretary, applying an annual
• enrollment fee for VA category 7 and 8's, 3.4 Billion -Dollar shortfall in 2006 funding. Stated
that we must work closely with our elected officials to correct these shortcomings.

COMISSIONERS COMMENTS.
Robert White: Robert White discussed the lunch appreciation for Captain Ken Dyke. The lunch will be held tentatively,
at The Galley in the Marina sometime in March.
White suggested that the Veteran of the Year applications should start in March.
White added that Steve Arends applied to be on the California Veterans Board
