HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2002-357- RESOLUTION NO. 2002-357 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA APPROPRIATING $15,000 FROM THE UNAPPROPRIATED FUND BALANCE OF THE FINE ARTS FUND AND $15,000 FROM THE UNAPPROPRIATED FUND BALANCE OF THE RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION TAX FUND FOR AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT BUILDING REHABILITATION ASSISTANCE FOR THE SAN DIEGO JUNIOR THEATER PROJECT AT 250 THIRD AVENUE, AND APPROVING THE ASSOCIATED FUNDING AGREEMENT WHEREAS, the City Of Chula Vista supports the need for additional community serving arts organizations within the downtown Third Avenue District as represented by the San Diego Junior Theater project located at 250 Third Avenue; and WHEREAS, the rehabilitation of the building at 250 Third Avenue requires that the building be brought into compliance with current building codes and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for accessibility; and WHEREAS, the San Diego Junior Theater is a non-profit organization and is dependent upon donations of labor, materials, skills and cooperation from donors and from the host city in helping the organization with the rehabilitation of the facility and compliance with all applicable codes; and WHEREAS, the funding assistance provided by the City Of Chula Vista will permit the facility to open and benefit children from the entire community with youth theater productions, while ensuring additional arts facilities in the downtown area: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, that it hereby approves the resolution appropriating $15,000 from the unappropriated fund balance of the Fine Arts Fund and $15,000 from the unappropriated fund balance of the Residential Construction Tax (RCT) for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) building rehabilitation assistance for the San Diego Junior Theater Project at 250 Third Avenue and approving the associated funding agreement.
