5. ACTION ITEMS
• Veteran's Park Status — Stephen Millikin stated that the dedication was moved to February or March due to delays.
The brick layout was scheduled for the week of October 3, 2005. Due to safety equipment limitations, 2 shifts of 5
people will be established. Each shift has been split from 1:00pm-3:00pm and from 3:00pm-5:00pm. The volunteers
for the laying of the bricks will meet at the east end of the park.
• CWHSF Status -.Per Stephen Millikin, there are currently 360 residents at the Veteran's home and are at a 90%
capacity. He added that the wireless Internet project is back on and a memorandum of understanding was drafted He
also stated that 3 lifts have been provided by the state and 5 more have been obtained and one more is needed at a
cost of $6,700. ,
• Civic Memorial —AY Casillas stated that he is to meet with John McCann on Thursday, September 22, 2005 regarding
the Civic Memorial. More information will be given in the next meeting.
• Street/Bridge — Steven Millikin stated that the project has been mostly completed and will keep the board updated on
any new projects. Otay Ranch informed him that there are possible talk of a small Veteran's park to be opened in their
development.
• Veteran Walk —Steven Millikin stated that the Veteran's Walk is scheduled for Saturday, November 5th, 2005 and will
start at the Veteran's home. There will be a $20 donation and t -shirts will be given away. The goal is to generate
$3,000 to $3,500 for the Veteran's home holiday functions.
• Veteran of the Year Awards —A motion has been made for Jack Mitchell as the 2005 Chula Vista Veteran of the year,
seconded and passed unanimously by the board. A letter will be drafted by Stephen Millikin recommending Jack
Mitchell to the City Council.

Stephen Millikin mentioned that there will be a dedication for a Veteran's flagpole at the Bonita Library November 12th at
10:00 am
7. ADJOURNMENT: Next meeting scheduled for Tuesday October 18, 2005 in the Chula Vista Police
Department Admin. Conference Room, 315 Fou venue, Chula Vista at 6:00 pm.
