PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE VETERANS ADVISORY COMMISSION CITY OF CHULA VISTA MINUTES Third Floor Conference room Chula Vista Police Department 3. ROLL CALL Robert White P Stephen Millikin _E__,_A.Y. ACTION ITEMS • Elect Chairman: Election of Chairman will be moved for next month's meeting. • Parks: Bob White informed that Memorial Park will retain its name as so. Bob also added that he sent an e-mail to Victoria Tom with the Park's department regarding the maintenance in the Walk of Honor in Veteran's Park. Victoria Tom responded sayin., they will pay more attention to the Walk of Honor. Bob mentioned that a veteran's memorial will be bu;lt in Lomas Verdes displaying 14 names, photographs and biographies of war veterans in which 14 streets are named after. They would like to invite all families to the dedication, so far Bob White has been able to contact 5 families. The dedication will be held on Veteran's Day. He added that the point of contact for McMillin is Lisa Johnson and Gail is'the contact for Otay Ranch Development. • Commissioner replacement status: Bobby Price mentioned that the City Clerk's office would like for the VAC to solicit applications. • Home Foundation update: Bob White mentioned that the foundation received a lawsuit letter regarding a person suing for work and emotional stress. The person did not work for the foundation, or the Veteran's home. He added that Assembly member Shirley Horton visited the home. • Street name update: Bob White stated that Lomas Verdes and Okay Ranch developments currently are displaying temporary street names listing the veteran's names. • Brick Status: Bob White stated per Buck Martin with the Park's Department, additional bricks were sold at the dedication of the Veteran's Park. • March for Veteran's Park: Bobby Price mentioned that the Veteran's walk will be held November 4th, 2006 A check from Pechangas was received for $1,000 and a request for $3,000 from Wal-Mart is underway. Forms will be posted on the Post 2111 website. This year's goal is $10,000. • VOY-Gene Pellerin mentioned that one applic2�ion was turned in. • Millikin Update: Gene Pellerin mentioned that there is no charge in his condition. • Civic Center update: No update at this time. 6.
