Chula Vista Veterans Outreach Program: Terry Jensen discussed meeting with Bob Phillips with Phillips Marketing
and acquired his services to attempt to come up with ideas on how to reach Chula Vista veterans. A rough draft of
the mailer was created and distributed to the commissioners. The suggestion is 5,000 mailers be sent in January
to 2 different zip codes, for a total of 10,000 mailers. The two zip codes in mind are possibly 91910 and 91911.
Another suggestion is to provide the City's website on the mailer, which will provide a link to the websites and
services offered to the veterans. The City of Chula Vista's Webmaster is to be contacted to set that up.
Status of Chula Vista Veteran's Home, wireless network: John Smith mentioned the Support Foundation will meet
Thursday, September 201h and will vote on which cable provider to use. The offers are from AT&T and Cox Cable.
Chula Vista Veteran of the Year: Terry Jensen mentioned Jennifer with the Mayor's Office informed him Mayor
Cheryl Cox nominated someone for the County Veteran of the Year other than Bobby Price, Chula Vista Veteran
of the Year and VAC's recommendation. John Smith also informed the commission that it is possible for the
Veteran's Advisory Commission to nominate someone on their own for the County Veteran of the Year.
