APPROVAL OF MINUTES ■ Chula Vista Mayor's breakfast Commission Chairman: Gene Pellerin discussed the breakfast he attended with Sheryl Cox, Chula Vista Mayor. Among several topics, the Bayfront/Gaylord project was discussed. Possibly construction to start in 3 years. ■ Status Report on Recognition of deceased (KIA) Chula Vista Veteran- There is communication with Martinez's father, which provided awards information, completing Martinez's biography. ■ Veteran's Walk- Bobby Price stated $5,000 has been raised so far. Sycuan is a sponsor and the San Diego Padres donated $350 instead of $600 this year. The goal is to raise $15,000. Applications are available on website and at Post 2111. ■ Political Issues- Bobby Price stated V.A. budget went through but is currently on hold. HR551, Homeowners Act 52 out of 53 in Congress have signed on in California, Bobby will update later. • Wifi Veteran's Home- Bobby Price mentioned AT&T dropped their price of the contract for Veteran's home. Contract will be signed in the near future. ■ Veteran's Outreach- Terry Jensen stated the veteran's outreach project is being put pn hold for now. Bob Phillips meeting cancelled due to no funds coming in from City of Chula Vista. ■ Veteran of the Year- Gene Pellerin announced Bobby Price, Veteran of the year for VAC's nomination was submitted to County Of San Diego Veteran of the year. ■ Public Comments: Gene Pellerin suggested a sign to be posted in the CVPD lobby announcing the location for the VAC each month. ■ Ethics Training -Gene also mentioned Ethics training is to be held every two years for commissioners. ■ Attendance -Gene also reminded commissioners they cannot be absent for more than 3 consecutive, unexcused days.
