4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
■ Recognition for veterans lost in combat: Gene Pellerin stated a duplicate of biographies and
pictures which are shown at Veteran's Park are currently being displayed at the Veteran's
Home. Gene would like to contact the Mayor's office to see if there's an appropriate location in
City Hall where the bios and photographs can be displayed for approximately 30-60 days.
■ Bobby Price's email regarding Veteran's legislation (saluting): Gene Pellerin stated Bobby
Prices' email was regarding making a salutation acceptable out of uniform, it is not prohibited
to do so, but wanted to make it clear it was acceptable to do so.
■ Veteran's Home Support Foundation: Gene Pellerin stated there would be a meeting to
discuss the annual golf tournament to raise money for the Veteran's Home. Gil Acevedo has
. departed and Jane Bergman is the Interim Administrator.
■ Wifi Status: Gene added the Wifi project at the Veteran's Home has stopped for the time
being. There is a new person in the Veteran's Board in Sacramento and would like to review
the agreement before it goes forward. John Smith added on Friday January 25, 2008 Lt.
Governor Bustamante will be at Veteran's Home and also a conference all will be held with
AT&T and the Veteran's Home to attempt to solve this. .
■ Ethics Training Status: Gene Pellerin stated the ethics training needs to be renewed every two
years.
■ Veteran of the Year: AY Casillas stated he would like to meet with the Mayor's Office to create
new procedures on nominating candidates for the County Veteran of the Year. Gene added
the board should start thinking of potential candidates for this year.
■ Veteran's biography website modification: Gene Pellerin has been in communication with
Holger Sommerfield, the Webmaster for the City of Chula Vista. He stated Holger is currently
working on changing the links to make it easier to access the website.
■ Veteran Ourtreach: Terry Jensen stated the United Veteran's Council project is still going, the
focus has shifted from a mailer to electronic. Terry added he created a PDF file with the
information that would have been' on the mailer.

COMISSIONERS COMMENTS.
■ AY Casillas mentioned South Bay Cruisers will donate $1,000 to go towards the Veteran's
Home Christmas Party. AY also recommended the VAC recognize John Smith for all he's
done for the Veteran's Home.
■ Terry Jensen mentioned he would like the VAC to start thinking of ways to inform the City of
Chula Vista about the Veteran's Home.
ADJOURNMENT: Next meeting scheduled for Tuesday February 19, 2008 at the Chula Vista Police Department, Chula
Vista at 6:00 pm.
