CALL MEETING TO ORDER 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 3. ROLL CALL Alex Galicia E Stephen Sprenkle P, John Acosta E, Virgil Whitehead P, Keith Blum P, Terry Jensen P Tony Stewart P 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Terry Jensen made a motion to approve February minutes as written and was seconded by Tony Stewart. The minutes were approved unanimously. • Guest Deputy City Attorney David Miller, DVBE update: Mr. David Miller discussed the procurement policy with the City of Chula Vista. He stated the draft is similar to the County of San Diego's procurement plan. The first draft will be completed by March's VAC meeting for review. The next step is for the commission to review and make changes and the Chairperson would then present it to the City Council. • Veterans Activities: Virgil Whitehead presented the Veterans Activities for February. • Veterans Home Update: Veteran's home is'looking for a volunteer to prepare taxes for residents. The volunteer must be certified to do taxes. Veterans Home Foundation Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 2, 2013 at Eastlake Greens. Chula Vista American Legion conducted a minor maintenance day at the Veterans home on January 21, 2013. 60 people volunteered their time for this event. • City of Chula Vista DVBE Procurement Policy discussion and Vote: Terry Jensen made a motion to go forward with the City of Chula Vista's DVBE Procurement Policy, seconded by Keith Blum and approved unanimously. • Southwestern College DVBE Procurement Policy discussion and Vote: Agenda item to be discussed at a later meeting. • Veteran of the Year Program: Veteran of the year applications to be available online. • City of Chula Vista's Veterans Advisory Commission website: • Marine Trials: ACTION ITEMS CHAIR'S COMMENTS ADJOURNMENT: Next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 20; 2013 at the Chula Vista Veterans Home, 700 E.
